Be interesting seeing how Muirhead develops, he looks quite comfortable at t20 international level.
He may sneak in and Doherty or The big flop go out.

Good bowler, I've liked what I've seen of him so far, hopefully he keeps developing and becomes a consistent player in our international side. Last time I said this was about Adam Zampa and he hasn't really come on like I had hoped.

Still reckon Zampa goes alright, hard when we have Botha so that he only gets a gig on the spinning tracks

Another assertion about the importance of 'death bowling' after last nights final. One of australias biggest weaknesses IMO. GrahamL still doesnt believe yorkers are the best way to go but I will side with MS dhoni on this one

While asking for more from his batsmen, Dhoni also praised Sri Lanka's pinpoint bowling at the death. "The last four overs is a place where we really want to score as many as you can and that was an area where we couldn't capitalise. At the same time you have to give credit to the Sri Lankan bowlers. I think they executed their plans brilliantly. They were looking for wide yorkers and all the balls were perfect wide yorkers. I think they only bowled one wide or something. Other than that they were right on the mark, which made it further more difficult for our batsmen to score freely."

Aus must find death bowler: Hussey

Only one stumbling block in way of World Cup glory

Mike Hussey knows plenty about heroics on the world stage, and the Australian legend-turned-batting-coach rates the home side a "great chance" to lift the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy at the MCG next March.

However, to do so, he believes Australia needs to find a bowler reliable and consistent enough to shoulder the burden of bowling at the 'death', the high-pressure final overs in a tight match.

Hussey played in the past two World Cups, lifting the trophy with Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Glenn McGrath and co in 2007, and single-handedly took Australia to a remarkable World T20 semi-final over Pakistan in the Caribbean in 2010.

And with the current world No.1 ODI side due to arrive in Zimbabwe today where they will play a one-day tri-series that also includes South Africa, Hussey is bullish about his country's prospects.

Before the World Cup begins in mid-February, Australia play one-day series at home against South Africa, England and India and a series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates in October.

The left-handed Hussey, who averaged 48 over 185 ODIs and now works with Cricket Australia as a consultant batting coach out of Brisbane's National Cricket Centre, was confident there was only one weakness in the current side – death bowling.

"One area that we maybe really need to focus on is the death (end of innings) bowling," said Hussey.

"Making sure we get that right and executing the skills there. But I think we've got a fantastic squad and a great chance to go really close in the World Cup."

Hussey nominated left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc as someone capable of stepping up and performing the death bowing duties.

Need to give credit to saffers too, they are a gun batting lineup.

We probably needed Doherty or someone darting them in there though.

Will be keeping a close eye on tonight's aus bowlers and thru the summer to try and find the 'death' bowler we really crave at the moment. The saffas Yorkers tonight and plans have been fantastic.

Agree re bollinger but shows the lack of skill under pressure some of our young bowlers have.
Wonder if behrendorf is the answer?
Anyway see how we go tonight

Respect your opinion Bennymacca but disagree with starc. I do like faulkner cos he's a trier and has a bit about him so willing to give him a go,, as for starc everytime he gets put under the pump he doesnt respond..hence he has gone to water bowling at the death and will continue to do so IMO.
Time will tell though we will know more over the next month or two. The South africans can bat, espescially when they get AB, Amla back so there will be no place to hide

I don't think he is quite there yet, but I think he is the one out of our current crop that can bowl at the death.

It is definitely going to be a problem in the World Cup.

Do we think Harris will get up for the World Cup? Because he will definitely do a good job at the death

Impressive tonight-This is the ideal pitch (bouncy) and oval (long boundary square) for our attack but have loved the intensity tonight!
