Fox 2 had a documentary/review of the series on last night.

Julian, M Waugh, and Blewett all provided insights on teh series through the Test matches.

I don't care what anyone says, you are not a red-blooded Australian male cricket fan if you don't get a hard-on when you watch Steve Waugh tell Ambrose to "F** Off, Just F*** Off and Bowl" as Ritchie Robinson tries to pull Ambrose away on that Trinidad pitch.

This was after Ambrose and given him the 15 sec stare after he put one past Waughs grill, and Waugh asked "What the F** are you looking at?" "Don't you Cus me mon, Don't you cus me" says Ambrose, then Waugh uttered those words....

To me that was the turning point of Australia's 10 year dominace of world cricket.

I remember watching it live on Channel 10 at 2 in the morning back then and I barred up watching it live and I barred up again last night.

I loved it at the time, too. Awesome series.
Although, I know we lost, but I really enjoyed the previous series over there, as well.

this is the sort of stuff that i love the most about test cricket. although it is a team game, in its essence it is a one on one game. one of the most intimidating bowlers in history vs one of the grittiest. the battle within the battle. these are the things that make test cricket what it is, and what you lose when going to the shorter forms of the game. sustained pressure, counter attacks. the ability to bowl at someone for over after over if they dont get off strike.

(same reason why grand slam tennis is good but i wont derail the topic with that)

McGrath played nine tests before that 1995 West Indies tour debuting against New Zealand in Perth in 1993. His first test away from home was in South Africa at Cape Town in 1994.

This series was also Ricky Pontings first exposure to an away Test series, played in a tour match and almost made his debut over there when players got sick.

Still remember reading a Sports Weekly magazine @ the time as a kid and the cover showed a picture of the confrontation with the words "Me and big lips".

Could you imagine that on the cover today....

Watching that series with two great mates was the catalyst for the three of us going over there for the 1999 tour. If you ever get the chance to go to a test(s) in the Caribbean - do it.
