Watto we do now?

Postby Rik E Boy » Tue Sep 23, 2014 1:03 pm

Surely it's time up for Shane Watson. Out of the latest tour with Menstrual Cramps or Bruised Ovaries or whatever. Here's hoping that Mitchell Marsh can step up as Australia's number one all-rounder.

regards,

Yep if Mitch excels on this tour then it should be curtains for Watson in the international scene. Although the Marsh brothers don't exactly stay on the park for long periods.....maybe they can rotate as they get injured

SAME
Mitch Marsh
Same player as Watto
Can bat well
Can bowl well
Can get injured often

If he has the same success at International level as Watto , Australia will prosper

Watto deserves his spot in the test side at the imho

His bowling is invaluable especially with Harris age and fitness question and Johnson being used in short bursts

so here is the test squad for the tests against pakistan

Test squad David Warner, Chris Rogers, Alex Doolan, Michael Clarke (capt), Steven Smith, Shane Watson, Phillip Hughes, Brad Haddin, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Mitchell Johnson, Steve O'Keefe, Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon.

watto pulled out and hilfy has gone instead.

Reckon the likely order will be

warner
rogers
doolan/hughes
clarke/hughes
smith
marsh
haddin
johnson
okeefe/starc
siddle
lyon

missing out
hilfy
maxwell
starc
hughes

the interesting one will be whether hughes has done enough to get in ahead of doolan, i would suggest no, and that hughes will have to wait until rogers retires before he gets his shot at test match cricket. if clarke doesnt come up it will be interesting to see whether they pick maxwell or hughes, i would think they go with maxwell

okeefe should also get a go given how well herath did against pakistan and the likely very hot conditions. boof has also said the 5th bowler needs to be a full all rounder, i.e not maxwell, so i think marsh is a shoe-in and that opens the door for them to play two spinners

A bit ordinary Hilfenhaus being selected over Sayers.

Agree a kid should of went instead of hilfy

Only thing i can think of is the selectors Must think hilfy will potentially reverse the ball and maybe they want a 'ready made' cricketer with doubts over Harris fitness

fair point, he is pretty much a ready made replacement for harris, though i would have thought starc would still play ahead of him

Great for the boys to get a win in their first game last night. Just watched the highlights, Warner batted really well, smashed them to all parts.

I'm watching it now and it is a dominant display with four debutants. I know it's a different form and a long way off but I have great hope we will be in the World Cup Final next year. I think our squad is looking very good.

The squad does look good doesn't it, especially with new fellas coming into the team, playing well and contributing, fills you with alot of confidence. So keen for this summer so we can smash the Indians and send them home crying like little sooking babies! Good to see Boyce come into the side and bowl as well as he did.
