All time ODI XI

Postby Lightning McQueen » Thu Mar 26, 2015 12:19 pm

After a discussion the other night I thought I'd post my world ODI XI now that there would be two new additions since my last one.
I've only included players that have played in my era.

V.Sehwag
S.Tendulkar
K.Sangakarra
AB. deVilliers
R.Poniting
J.Kallis
A.Gilchrist
W.Akram
S.Warne
C.Ambrose
G.McGrath

Obviously Lara & Jayasuria would have to strongly considered with the bat along with Murali, Younis and Pollock with the ball. I'm a bit of a Afridi fan also.
The person I was discussing it with had Viv and Dean Jones in there side.

Without looking at his record im think McGrath might not have been as successful ODI bowler as he was a test bowler

Could be completely wrong though

Just had a quick look,

If I was picking a team to win a game I would have gone Shaun Pollick over McGrath

McGrath has slightly better average, Pollock slightly better economy

But

Pollocks batting and even his fielding would probably get him over the line for me

Does Gilly open the batting to make way for Kohli to enter the team at the expense of Kumar or Sachin, he has a superior record to both of them, perhaps Gilly dips out, averages a lot less than Sangakkara.

From my team de Villiers dropped out for Kohli.

As for Gilly in terms of ODI openers you have Jayasuriya, Dilshan and Gayle in front of him in terms of runs made, I'd still take Gilly. Your keeper has to be Gilly or Sanga.

Good side.
I’ll probably swap Lee with big Curtley Ambrose.
