World-wide cricket records

Postby Booney » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:43 am

An English club all-rounder has made history by scoring 350 in a one day game.

Liam Livingstone’s stunning innings was the centrepiece of Nantwich’s mammoth 7-579 for in just 45 overs during their National Club Championship clash at home to fellow northwest side Caldy.

Livingstone’s runs came from just 138 balls, including 34 fours and 27 sixes. “Had worse days! Thanks for all the messages,” Livingstone, 21, said on Twitter. His astonishing assault is believed to be the the highest recorded individual in any form of one-day match, surpassing the 334 not out made by the then 15-year-old Nikhilesh Surendran in an Indian school fixture in Hyderabad in 2008.

Three of Caldy’s bowlers, who play in the Liverpool and District competition, long regarded as one of England’s leading club leagues, conceded in excess of 100 runs.

Overwhelmed by what had happened to them in the field, Caldy collapsed to 79 all out as Nantwich won by a scarcely credible 500 runs.

Livingstone, yet to make his first-class debut, endeared himself to Lancashire fans by finishing last season with 204 in the Roses 2nd XI clash against arch-rivals Yorkshire.

Astounding that a County Premier Division Club side got belted by this much. Surely they had most of their seconds play

It seems the star of this original story has continued his good form, has broken into the Lancashire team but his season has been premature ended by some dickhead in a pub.

Looking at the scorecard and it all seems legit.

Only 8 bowlers used, would be a fair assumption the opposition only had 8 would it? Or is their innings listed somewhere?

GRANTED they hadn’t played for a few months. There was also barely any practice leading up to the match. And it must be noted, it was a six-a-side game.

But that’s where the excuses run out for this hodgepodge bunch of cricketers from an English village in Kent who were dismissed for zero in an indoor grand final this week.

Josh Hunt, Dan Pomfrett, James Sutton, Chris Hogg, Owen Harrison and James Weller from Bapchild Cricket Club failed to score a single run in their match against Christ Church University.

“We all couldn’t really believe it to be honest, bowling a team out for 0, especially indoors as all they needed to do was hit a wall to get one run,” Christ Church spinner Mike Rose, who wasn’t required to bowl, told the Crawley Observer.

“I think it’s the first time it’s happened in the history of the Kent league and maybe even indoor cricket.”

Christ Church won by 120 runs after batting first and compiling 1/120. The total included 25 wides.

The students’ followed that by knocking Bapchild over in 20 balls. Fraser McWhinnie took 3/0 — including a hat-trick — from two overs and Philip Semmens took 3/0 from 1.2 overs.

Every batsmen was out bowled or caught by the wicketkeeper.

“There were polite boos from the crowd when the umpires declined to allow Bapchild the privilege of a leg bye,” kentonline.co.uk reported.

“The reason being the batsman had not offered a shot before the ball struck his pad, then the back wall which normally counts a single.”

Amazingly it’s not the first time a team has been bowled out for nought. Somerset outfit Huish and Langport CC failed to score in an 11-a-side outdoor game against Glastonbury in 1913.

According to cricinfo.com, the lowest score in a first-class match is six runs, recorded by The Bs against England at the old Lord’s ground in 1810.

New Zealand holds the record for the lowest score in a Test match. The Kiwis were bowled out for 26 in the second innings of a game against England in Auckland in 1955.
