No quality spinner for the first 5 games seems like a solid move doesn't it.

We had rashid and holland get injured, and Sodhi wasnt available until then because he was playing ODIs for NZ

I knew Holland was injured but thought we shoulda replaced him.

As for the hashtag, I love it but I fear you are about to get in big trouble mister. I think they were going to delete me or expel me or something for taking the piss and using them. Byebyebenny

:)

We replaced him with O'Connor, who didn't do a terrible job.

21 balls of Classic leg spin dismissals. How is Satner playing before him in NZ test side?

Last night apart from the Sodhi masterclass, the big things i picked up:

* Hodge still has value. May not hit boundary balls as regularly, but rotates the strike well - not many dots.. With Dunk going at the other end, that was all that was required.

* Lehmann is too lazy/laid back for T20 - chewed up balls batting, lazy running between wickets cost him his wicket and so-so in the field.

* Don't need to change the fields and bowlers every over - proof last night that if you can come in and bowl full, straight, aggressive with a hint of swing you'll trouble bats. Neser bowled beautifully his first couple of overs bowling 50 over areas, and Pollard was ok for 3 overs straight up. From there Sodhi and O'Conner bowled most the overs. In future why not just look to bowl more dots straight up and get that run rate pushing higher - and if a bowler is on top, keep him on!

* Carey should've been our first pick keeper all comp.

* We need a genuine new ball bowler still.

* If you're going to open with Dunk, have Head/Lehmann/Carey in the side, then Ludeman still has a place - that LH / RH combo at the top works much better, and Ludes can still score at a good rate.

I didn't see this but last night but not a good look.

IT WAS not a great look for the Big Bash League last night when Channel 10 commentator Mark Howard told Adelaide skipper Brad Hodge during the live broadcast his bowler Ben Laughlin had a decent recent record against Shane Watson.

Upon hearing the statistics Watson had fallen twice to Laughlin in the space of eight balls, Hodge injected him into the bowling attack the very next over.

As more than 1 million TV viewers watched on — and millions of dollars were being invested locally and abroad on the live betting markets — Howard told Hodge: “Our master statistician Lawrie Colliver tells us Laughlin has got Watson twice in the last eight balls he’s bowled him in this competition.

“Really?’’ Hodge says.

“I’ll leave that with you skipper,’’ Howard said.

Hodge laughed and said: “I’ll bring him on next over then. Let’s get him into the game. Next over bud.’’

Watson tonked Laughlin for a boundary with his second ball and did not look troubled.

I saw it, and although it was meant in jest, the commentators should be very careful about that sort of stuff. Clearly inappropriate

How would you feel if you had money on Watson to top score, or one of those megabets where he hits say 3x sixes or top scores and takes a wicket etc.. and the commentators say that, Laughlin comes straight on and gets him out...

I would be livid!

Scorchers into another GF with easy win over Stars.

Biggest controversy might be the tweet Darren Lehmann just sent out bagging Kevin Pietersen!

FWIW, I reckon Lehmann has been a bit harsh and overstepped the mark. Think Pietersen has been great value, still one of the best batters in the comp, and one of the best commentators at the moment, including both Channel 9 and 10.

Lehmann said KP had been disappointing and should be sacked.
I think KP has been ok this year and is good for the BBL.

Maybe Lehmann should pull his own head in or be sacked himself!
