Poms V Bangers

Postby Grenville » Fri Sep 16, 2016 8:40 pm

The Poms have sprung another Wayne Larkins type selection for their Test squad with 38 year old Gareth Batty being selected as the 3rd spinner. Just to balance things out they've selected a 19 year old opener.

Gee whiz we are desperate for spinners if we're picking batty. Excited to see hameed play, is a real talent. Same for duckett, there are a few talented players waiting in the wings at the minute which is great to see.

Bangladesh are about to win their first test match against a top 8 side. Good to see them improving, they have some talented youngsters and are a much improved side at home. As for us poms we are going to get smoked in a 5 test series against india next.

Yup, Woakes made runs in the 1st Dig (46) and Rashid (still to bat) was third top score with 44 and we know Stokes can play. Wouldn't be surprised if the POMs win from here.

(kiss of death applied there 8) )
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Ball is spinning way to much, no chance we will win. The game was essentially over when cook lost the toss. We only won the 1st test cos we won the toss. Lehman is correct when he says the toss should be scrapped, might make more even wickets.

I don't mind this. Let the captains talk before the start of play with the commentators :

"So Steve, what would you like to do?"

"We'd like to bowl first, Mark."

"Well Steve, we wanted to bat first"

"Done, thanks Faf".

If it's not a mutual decision, toss the coin then. I don't really like the away team batting first theory.
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

giving the away team the choice will mean a couple of things.

pitches will be made so that the choice is unclear whether to bat or bowl first
series will be much more even instead of going to the home team the vast majority of the time

If he was good a mixing cordial no need to pick him in the XI.....12th man can handle that task.

Would like to think he played his last test for a while. His dismissal yesterday was awful.

Can't bat. Starts so deep in his crease when he comes forward he's only on the crease. Amazing how someone can do well enough to earn a test cap batting that way.
