Play started on day four in Southampton but it's raining again.
Pakistan 236
Rizwan 72
Broad 4/56

England 1/7 from 5 overs
Afridi 1/5

The ball was doing plenty in the air and off the seam at the end of Pakistans innings and the start of Englands before the rain came. Afridi was hooping it.

Maybe to save 10 minutes?
If the rule is you cant call the match off until 1 hour to go, if the team batting declares with 1 hr 10 mins to go, allowing for 10 minute changeover the game can then be called immediately ??
I'm not real sure, just a theory :?

England v Pakistan, third test at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.
Joe Root won the toss and England are batting first, they are currently 3/114.
Root just out for 29.
Crawley 57* (101)

Pakistan have an unchanged team for this match while England have one change as per their fast bowler revolving door policy with Archer in for Curran.

Wonderful knock by Crawley. Looks a real talent, has every shot and plays the pull beautifully which should hold in good stead in Australia. Dare I say we may have finally found a number 3 batsmen for the first time since Trott.

Crawley seems to be a decent prospect. Looks to score but not stupid or reckless in his method. I was impressed in the last test how he coped with Abbas on a tricky wicket, trying to disrupt his length. He's cashed in too getting a big ton, a double ton on the horizon in this test. Will be interesting to see how he goes in Australian conditions.

Lunch day two, Crawley 186 not out at the moment, really cashing in and putting England in an excellent position at 4/373.
Agreed with your comments lads in that he looks to be a real good prospect for England and looks to be in complete control of his game at just 22 years old, I'm also looking forward to see how him and also Ollie Pope go in Australia. They both look to be the main pillars of England's future batting order.
Any cricket fan knows England have really struggled to find a decent and reliable number three since Trott retired and Crawley looks to be that prospect.
I think he's been stiff to miss out when England have looked to play the five bowlers with Buttler at six but now he's made the most of replacing Stokes.
Buttler is currently 113*, his second test match century. He is now the leading run scorer for England in the six test matches of this English summer.

I had thought Root was the best batsman for EG going back about 2 years ago
Then I thought Stokes was better than Root
Ive been thinking Pope might be even better than Root and Stokes
Then I saw the innings of Crawley who might be better than Root Stokes and Pope
Now if Butler scores another ton ....

What it means is that EG might just have a very good 3-4-5-6-7 combination when Stokes is back
3 Crawley
4 Root
5 Stokes
6 Pope
7 Butler

That line up will be great to watch

They have a plethora of fast bowlers , Jimmy Anderson is still bowling well, whadda champ he is

What they need for some possible world dominance is
1 good spin bowler to support the quicks
Burns and Sibley to perform well as openers

EG 8/583
PA 3/24

If no rain, I expect
PA all out for 180 by tea time and follow on
Then be 2/70 at stumps

If no rain this match im tipping will end on day 4
