Love this

Growing up with a grandad who was born and lived a stones through away from Sabina Park I used to hear tons of Viv Richards stories.

One I heard as my bed time story as a child was the West Indians were training in the nets a couple of days before the start of a series against England, apparently what happened was the home team practised first immediately followed by the away team.

West Indies had about 20 minutes of their net left when the English arrived a bit early, apparently the English team manager walked up to Viv and politely asked how much longer they would be.

Viv cracked up laughing saying the same thing, you actually think it will make a difference, immediately asked his team to finish up and then told the English manager they can come whatever time they like tomorrow because his team doesn’t need to train

They honoured their word and still went on to win the test.

Not sure how true it was but it was my favourite bedtime story, my granddad being a ‘white’ Jamaican with Cuban heritage had an almost identical voice to Tony Cozier.

Saffers 5 for 225 at tea and now a real chance to hang on for a draw.

England get de Kock, then burn their last review .... ridiculous decision to review. England need 4 wickets in 24 overs with no reviews left.

Some critical moments at the end ...
de Kock getting caught at mid wicket when there was no need to hit the ball in the air.
Philander opting to not take a single and exposing Pretorious to Stokes
Stokes final spell was unbelievable... the pitch was dead for the quicks, but somehow he managed to extract sometbhng out of it
Crawley's two catches
Barmy army turned it into an England home game
Great test match ..... and people want to move to 4 day Tests.

I wish either of those sides were touring here this summer, we would embarrass them both.
Both are very mediocre sides

Not very good bants :

A tense final day in England’s stirring 189-run win against South Africa in the Second Test in Cape Town got the better of Jos Buttler in a moment he’ll likely regret.

Searching desperately for wickets in the final session, Buttler objected to Proteas tailender Vernon Philander failing to step out of the way so he could receive a throw from mid-off.

“Get out the f***ing way,” said Buttler with aggression, prompting Vilander to stare back at him.

“F***ing move,” the Pom continued. “You know it’s going to f***ing (inaudible), just move … f***ing k***head.”

First slip Ben Stokes backed his man, adding: “Don’t stare him out. He’s got a point, mate.”

Buttler completed the tirade by suggesting the throw had some work to do to “f***ing, get past that f***ing gut” without Philander standing in the way.

Sky Sports, which was broadcasting the match in England, offered an apology for the language through commentator Michael Atherton shortly after.

Stokes bowling 145kph, 5th day on a dead pitch where South Africa have an imposing 17-3-2 record and getting the poms across the line was amazing, without Jimmy Anderson also (who might be done)

Is Stokes the best all round cricketer in the world right now?

Probably, just ahead of Labuschagne, at least until his leggies get better. ;)

I did enjoy the contest and thought it was a good test but I have no doubt that if the Ashes were held currently in Australia we would beat them 5-0, they are no good

Jadeja from India very handy also.

Bat Ave Bowl Ave
Stokes 36.16 32.92
Jadeja 35.46 24.64

Stokes more damaging with the bat & has made more centuries although bats a lot higher than Jadeja.
