Cricket Captain is one of the great games. Had at least 3 versions over the years.

Agree career mode in Aus League isn't as good. Too hard to rejuvenate your lists & found it very hard to train up young players to go anywhere near averaging 40 or more with the bat.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Any tips for bowling in 4 day games?

I eventually worked out that in one day games you could bowl max aggression to defensive fields and it would work ok.

But in shield games they have scored 500+ every time with the bat. The last two games they have done that and asked me to follow on, then I have batted out a draw

Start with agression that is one bar from max

Once a batter has faced his first 30-40 drop down to three bars

Once a better is 75 plus drop down to one bar

Look at a batters preferences and swap between going against his preference and top of off stump every 3-4 overs

Recruit champions on the future - i got Hilton Cartwright into my Redbacks squad along with Jason Sangha and a couple of good young quicks, and they dominate.

I got Hilton Cartwright too

How do you know if the young players are rated highly?

Look at the CA XI sides of recent years, look at the NPS, look at performances in U17 and U19 nationals - it's a pretty good indicator.

Also players who get rookie listed or BBL contracts at young ages are generally highly regarded in CA e.g. Inglis, Sangha, Doran

Honestly it's mostly guess work haha!

It's all hidden attributes

You need to make judgement based on averages both first class and second 11 and then form and how well rounded a batter is with his preferences

Agree I've never played it on a phone but I love to immerse my self in the game and really sit back with a beer unwind and zone out so I play on my laptop

Each to their own though

Just played a one dayer vs cricket Australia XI, restricted them to 243 and was cruising with lehmann and ferg in and on 40 odd each, and they need a run a ball from the final 3 overs and can't get there.

Only other game that comes close to being this frustrating is fifa

First shield game, picked Mark Norton as he had good second XI form, and he makes 248 on debut.

Still ended up being a boring draw though

Was thinking this morning about cricket games - anyone remember that one with the VHS tape? You used to watch the tape and it would tell you if you were out or hit a boundary etc?
