It gets to a point, doesn't it, where you have to question it. Smith occasionally gets caught up too.
During the contest, I reckon it's okay. Walking off the field, I reckon it's petty.
Root's a very naive captain and him getting involved in that stuff reflects where the English have been in this series so far - distracted.
I almost feel like he's trying to show Anderson and Broad he's a big boy.

Agreed, his beard is an attempt to show us he's all grown up too, I reckon.

I think we would have enforced the follow on had Woakes & Overton not put on the partnership they did. We were always going to bat again once those two started to make some runs. As others have said, i think we may have enough now, but will make another 100 today and declare and hopefully knock them over tonight

Spot on bertie. That's why the follow on was not enforced. The ease of the runscoring spooked Smith.

Did anyone hear Phil Tufnell on triple M yesterday afternoon during the tea break (the 6.20pm break)?

He was talking about some commentary he was doing for an England vs Pakistan match where Fakhar was on his first tour of England and they were tip-toeing around his pronunciation for a while.

Poms bowled 149 overs, we bowled 76 with Hazlewood and Cummins bowling 16 overs, you can't seriously say they needed a rest, we would have them 4/50 now and test match over. Stupid decision to bat again.

If all 3 pace bowlers had bowled 30+ overs like England I could understand the decision.

Its a long 5 test series so keep them as fresh as possible.
