At this level the talk is half the battle.

I think when Root's involved in things like that, we've won half the battle.

During the contest, I reckon it's okay. Walking off the field, I reckon it's petty.
Root's a very naive captain and him getting involved in that stuff reflects where the English have been in this series so far - distracted.
I almost feel like he's trying to show Anderson and Broad he's a big boy.

Agreed, his beard is an attempt to show us he's all grown up too, I reckon.

1-0 down, 268 behind, 6 wickets in hand and 2 full days to play.....I don't think he's focusing on the right parts of their game, or his game, for that matter.

As others have said, i think we may have enough now, but will make another 100 today and declare and hopefully knock them over tonight

Spot on bertie. That's why the follow on was not enforced. The ease of the runscoring spooked Smith.

Did anyone hear Phil Tufnell on triple M yesterday afternoon during the tea break (the 6.20pm break)?

He was talking about some commentary he was doing for an England vs Pakistan match where Fakhar was on his first tour of England and they were tip-toeing around his pronunciation for a while.

I only got his one and Mick Molloy's as we were travelling back from my sons training, we were gonna do a couple of laps of the block to hear the rest.

Just reading that reminds me of the early 90s and listening to the 12th Man tapes whilst driving around ;)

If all 3 pace bowlers had bowled 30+ overs like England I could understand the decision.

Its a long 5 test series so keep them as fresh as possible.

16 overs in the last week and another week and a half until Perth test, they could have bowled 7-8 overs each last night.

I'm sure your old man would've had it playing on the way back from south of the city on a Saturday evening after a day of district.

Could give Handscomb 2 bats and throw 6 balls at him, he'd miss them all. Terribly out of touch. Looking our weakest link at the moment.
