Shield form doesnt mean anything these days anyway - Glenn Maxwell has a 274 and a 96 in his last two games and cant even get into the ODI squad.

Seems like just because he is a dickhead they dont wanna pick him

Australia certainly don't have a no dickhead policy like the Sydney Swans had, David Warner says hi.

Good Test pitch this. If you put your head down and concentrate there's runs to be had and if you're a bowler there's enough in it to give you a chance. A bit more bounce is the only possible criticism. Finally a contest between bat and ball.

No disagreement there, just proves the hypocrisy of the hierarchy.

Maxwell averaging 22 in the shorter form, why should he get a gig over over guys like Head that have earnt their spot. Lynne is probably the selection that baffles me the most

The kid has gone alright I reckon, bowled enough good balls to keep the batsmen honest. Bowls a decent wrongun, gives it a rip, decent control. A little bit of Stewie MacGill in his action. Doesn't come over the top with his arm as much though which will stop him getting as much bounce. Worth another look at this level. Test Cricket, especially Pommie Test cricket will be richer if this kid can develop into a decent Test cricketer. Technique wise needs to put a bit more bounce into his action and bowl a few more over the top and less roundarm and he'll cause problems. A better Test prospect than Adam Zampa by a fair bit.

I would have thought that another WA player would be chosen. They seem to get a walk up start for international selection (and have for forty years), despite the myth they have a much easier run to selection than NSW.

Justin Langer managed to talk both Renshaw and Handscombe out of the test team. He seems to be the kingmaker in Australian cricket.

Personally on form I would go for Joe Burns. He has some experience and is currently in rare form. They cannot retain Bancroft, looks way out of his depth in this field at the moment.

RIG are you suggesting Michael Klinger by some chance ;)

Shows the gap between Shield and test cricket ;)

What is this shield cricket you speak of? It’s been that long since a shield game I don’t remember it!

I thought it must’ve been a myth where test players earn there stripes.

Warner got a Test spot largely on his 20/20 exploits.

GOAT wasn't a complete cockwomble like Warner either. And young kids batting techniques aren't likely to be destroyed by Nathan Lyon.

Ed Cowan has a similar record to S. Marsh, yet Marsh has had far, far more chances.
