From the Foxtel site;

How to use Chromecast or AirPlay

You will need to be on the same WiFi network as your chromecast device or Apple TV
Open the Foxtel Now app
You will see the Chromecast icon on the top right corner of the screen if this streaming option is available
The AirPlay icon will appear on the bottom right of the screen when playing content

There's a distinction between the Foxtel App and Foxtel Now App.

The Foxtel App you can view only on screens, Foxtel Now you can use Chromecast.

Foxtel and Foxtel Now are two distinct subscriptions. If your internet is quick enough and you don't want/need Sky Racing or an IQ Foxtel Now the better value

yep, as jo said, this is for foxtel now - which is their standalone streaming subscription - not the foxtel app - which comes as an addon to your satellite/cable service and is purely intended to be watched on the go, not onto a second screen

for a while you could log into foxtel play (as it was then, "foxtel now" now) but as far as im aware you cant not

hvaent checked in a few months though so hopefully there is a way to do it

Just ring and threaten to leave, they usually offer great reductions and options. I just got a free box installed in the bedroom, although I definitely wouldn't pay for it.

I use foxtel now, only have sport and basic pack needed to get sport. Costs around $40 per month. I "may have" given my login details to a mate who "might" give me $20 a month. ;)

i have thought about doing the same, but two things stopped me

1. im already close to my 500 gig internet limit, and going to a different plan will offset a lot of the savings anyway
2. i like watching a lot of the sport in the morning after recording it overnight (i.e european football, darts). So the streaming means i cant do that

True re internet. Im not a big watcher, might flick through the channels on the weekends if im home. Plus if I know the result I struggle to watch games so at the moment it works for me (and maybe my mate).

if the games on at 4am i usually get up at 6am and watch it before work, so i can avoid spoilers. and i get to fast forward through half time etc too

anyway, back to the cricket. really looking forward to it, though i havent been sleeping well lately so adding some more late nights into it doesnt sound like a great idea

$44 for me......and I may have encouraged my old man to buy a Chromecast and sling me half. Essentially sold ice to the Eskimos as my Dad flatly refused to sign up since subscription television began!
