One of the softest dismissals I can recall.

Should be his last Test Match also.......any danger of getting the entire panel to have played First Class Cricket this side of 1990???

Guys like Ponting and Hayden eventually did the right thing when they got into their mid-30s and weren't making runs.

Marsh isn't a tenth the player either of those guys were. But will we see him get a tap on the shoulder?

Talking about selectors, Labuschagne skating on thin ice.
No reverse sweeps, no hitting the the ball in the air, no trying to hit the ball too hard.
Far too much patience, reasonable technique and placement.
He'll be hoping Mitch Marsh doesn't make 45 off 24 balls against Grade bowling for the Scorchers this week or he might find himself out of the team.

Excellent point. Hohns was a modest player at best. G. Chappell was a champion player, but an ordinary bloke by all reports.
The clean out at CA should have included those 2 dinosaurs.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

We are an outright disgrace. Club cricketers would be rightfully pissed if they were dismissed in this manner. I reckon all 5 dismissals have been from us getting ourselves out

Not whilst we have Langer as coach or Hohns as chairman of selectors.
The Marsh family must all be great blokes. I can think of no other reason as to how they continue to be chosen.
Those of us with very long memories would remember Alan Border refusing to take the field at the start of the fifth day of the Adelaide test of 1991-92 because Geoff Marsh had been dropped for the following test match. Geoff Marsh's stats for that series were 4 matches 8 innings 1 not out 185 runs at 26.42. His overall figures were 50 test matches, 2854 runs at 33.2.
His son Shaun's figures are remarkably similar. 38 test matches 2265 at 34.31 and for this series 183 runs for 7 times out at 26.14.
Surely he must either be dropped or do the honourable thing and retire.

Agree with you there. It's a bloody road as we are getting ourselves out.

Started with Harris, he batted well but tried to glide one. He looked good when playing his shots. Also when he attacked the spinner Kohli was on the back foot and had to be very reactive.

So we can spend all day every day discussing who should be in and who should not but truth is we have NO ONE in our country outside Kahawaja and once in a summer Shaun Marsh who is capable of a century at Test level.

Our cricketers are heading down the same path as our tennis players did 20 yrs ago. It's cultural. We are playing against nations who have individuals who would give a left arm to play. How many stories do we hear of the Indian player who would travel on a bike or train to training and would strive so hard. And when they made a century in domestic cricket they knew they have to push on to 150 to even get noticed above the 37 times 11 others pushing their case. No wonder they have depth and persistence and mental toughness.

The Aussie youngster doesnt care. He has a great life what ever his chosen path. He doesnt need cricket to make his life and his families life better. And guys like Weatherald and Short openly state they love Twenty20 as they dont have to hang around. Look at Travis Head... will never make the grade despite never failing to get a start he just cannot concentrate for any length of time.

And there lies the issues... not selectors nor coaches or pitches. Our generation of youngsters lack the persistence patience and concentration. They cannot be bothered learning (unless its a gamer on youtube) and have no motivation to aspire as they have all they need as it is.

I think we do have players outside of the side capable of a test century. I certainly think Joe Burns is. And he has performed at first class level but can't get into the side. I am not a fan of Matthew Wade but they can do worse than choose him and Kurtis Patterson as discussed previously is worth a go too. I must sound like a broken record but Shaun Marsh, like his brother Mitch must go for us to be competitive against good sides like India and South Africa

Also 100% agree.

Just have a read through Pujaras bio on ESPN cricinfo and you can see why he is so capable of batting for long periods.

Generalisation...yes.
Absurd...maybe. but i cannot think of many Aussie cricketers who have these qualities. Especially compared to those who have come through Indian society.

as they said on the ABC yesterday, kids cricket these days up to U14';s are only allowed to make 20 or bat 4 overs, how can they learn patience and concentration as a younger player with crap rules like that.

Its all about the quick bash and quick grab for cash, kids and parents dont want to spend hours on end on a weekend playing/watching cricket when it can all be done and dusted in a few hours, sad but true
