Chris Gayle wins defamation case against Fairfax awarded $300,000.

International cricket star Chris Gayle has been awarded $300,000 for being defamed in articles claiming he exposed himself to a female massage therapist.

In October 2017, a NSW Supreme Court jury found in favour of Gayle, who sued Fairfax Media over articles published in January 2016.

The four jurors found Fairfax had not established that Gayle had exposed himself to masseuse Leanne Russell in the team dressing room during a Sydney training session at the 2015 World Cup.

The story was published in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Canberra Times.

The brother of Australian cricketer Usman Khawaja has been arrested by counter terrorism investigators over an alleged faked terrorism plot.

Arsalan Khawaja is facing serious forgery and attempting to pervert justice charges relating to the discovery of a notebook containing alleged concocted plans to carry out terror attacks in Australia.

The 39-year-old was arrested in Parramatta, west of Sydney, at 8.30am today, a New South Wales police spokesperson said.

Authorities swung into action in August after a handwritten book was found at the University of New South Wales in August, outlining alleged plans for a series of attacks.

Targets allegedly included former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Mr Turnbull and several major landmarks, including the Sydney Opera House.

The alarming find led to the highly publicised wrongful arrest of Mohamed Nizamdeen, a PhD student and casual employee at the Sydney university campus.

Investigators sensationally dropped all charges and the 25-year-old was cleared of any wrongdoing, but not before spending four weeks detained at the notorious maximum security Goulburn prison. Mr Nizamdeen is now suing police.

In October, counter terrorism police questioned Khawaja, who was reportedly employed alongside Mr Nizamdeen, and later searched his Westmead home.

“He has been taken to Parramatta Police Area Command where he will be spoken to in relation to the alleged (charges of) attempt to pervert justice and forgery — making a false document,” a police spokesperson said today.

It follows an investigation by the state’s Joint Counter Terrorism Team, dubbed Operation Moorsel.

As much as it pains me to say it, I just can’t see India being able to take 20 Wickets.

Kohli, Ussie and SMarsh to go big and Hazlewood 9 for the match.

Australia to win by 8 wickets

It will if India bat first. They'll bat for the first three days and bowl us out twice on the fourth day.
So you've seen everything have you?

Mitch Marsh dropped, Handscombe comes in.

________________________________________________________________________

Mitchell Marsh has been axed from the Australian side for the first Test with Peter Handscombe taking his place in the line-up for Adelaide.
Handscomb has edged out all-rounder Marsh for the final position following two half centuries at the Gabba last week and a century in Victoria’s match before.

Handscomb’s selection will see the Aussies field an XI without an all-rounder for the first time since the Adelaide Test last year. It will also signify a full circle for the right-hander, who was sent away to remodel his technique last summer and has enjoyed a fruitful domestic season thus far.

Captain Tim Paine confirmed the decision at midday on Wednesday, pinning Marsh’s omission on a lack of consistency. He is confident the four frontline bowlers will be able to get the job done.

Handscomb averages 43 in his Test career, while Marsh has made just one score over 20 in his past 11 innings at the elite level. Marsh averaged 106 in the final three Ashes Tests last year and helped save the Boxing Day Test alongside Steve Smith.

Travis Head and Shaun Marsh will bat in the middle order, while Marcus Harris will debut.

Australia XI: Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
