Yep agree.
Mitch isn’t up to it and Handscomb deserves another go.

There is always a feeling of optimism and expectation at the beginning of a series. I can't help but think the Indian bats are underdone. Only having 1 warm up game in the long form against a development side is far from ideal. Only Rahul (3 & 62) and Vihari (53 & 15no) batted twice, with the 2 aforementioned and Rahane (56 from 123) the only players to face more than 100 balls.

I just read how well Kohli was striking the ball in the nets.....against net bowlers ; good for him.

Mitchell Marsh has been axed from the Australian side for the first Test with Peter Handscombe taking his place in the line-up for Adelaide.
Handscomb has edged out all-rounder Marsh for the final position following two half centuries at the Gabba last week and a century in Victoria’s match before.

Handscomb’s selection will see the Aussies field an XI without an all-rounder for the first time since the Adelaide Test last year. It will also signify a full circle for the right-hander, who was sent away to remodel his technique last summer and has enjoyed a fruitful domestic season thus far.

Captain Tim Paine confirmed the decision at midday on Wednesday, pinning Marsh’s omission on a lack of consistency. He is confident the four frontline bowlers will be able to get the job done.

Handscomb averages 43 in his Test career, while Marsh has made just one score over 20 in his past 11 innings at the elite level. Marsh averaged 106 in the final three Ashes Tests last year and helped save the Boxing Day Test alongside Steve Smith.

Travis Head and Shaun Marsh will bat in the middle order, while Marcus Harris will debut.

Australia XI: Marcus Harris, Aaron Finch, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Tim Paine (c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood

He sounded very confident that he was in the side on the radio this morning, he was playing down Geoff Lawson's comments.

Makes it a bit easier for a punt tomorrow, I didn't know which Marsh would top score, now I only have one to pick from @ $5.50.

Did you see the video of him batting? He was middling them alright the sweetest sound I've heard come from a cricket bat. It was pure!

The bloke averages 55 against the best bowlers in the world now he's in the nets in a concrete tunnel and the cricket world is going mad about the sound his bat is making?

Please, I'm far more impressed by what he does out in the middle!

There's a decent chance both Marshes will score the exact same number of runs in the first test I reckon. [emoji6]

Starc has the third most runs of the selected 11 going into this match apparently.

An interesting indication of where we are at.

Pretty stupid stat considering Harris, Head, Finch, Handscomb, Paine have all played less than 20 tests and Lyon & Hazlewood bat 10/11.

Think it more highlights the inexperience of the squad moreso than the perceived lack of ability.

With Handscomb playing, there is at least 3 bats who may get a century in this series now (alongside Marsh and Khawaja) and not just two.

You don't think Finch batted pretty well against the Paki's and his chances aren't enhanced by home soil?

Australia must win the toss and grind the Indian quicks into the ground. Bats wouldn't be too pleased either....

Might not be a bad toss to lose. Quicks will get the best time to bowl.
Get into them early then face 10 overs of the last session.
Easy!
