Would want to hit some runs since keeping us his speciality.
**** you’re a tough critic - that was a very tough chance - full stretch it only just reached the finger tips.
It was a real tough chance
But how many times does a keeper have an opportunity to effect ‘their keeping’ speciality.
If Wade for example was keeping in this test what chances would have he missed that Paine would have taken. Remembering keepers dropping a regulation edge of a paceman is one in over a thousand. Having seen most of the test I would say zero, maybe one at absolute best if we go the Vihari first innings wicket.
It’s not just the chances Wade misses, it’s his lack of cleanliness behind the stumps in general, especially to the spinners.
First innings drop was a bit easier but that one he dropped off Pant I would think would get missed more often than not by all keepers - pushing across the bat, inside edge catching them wrong footed and getting enough angle to escape the dive.
FWIW I think Paines batting has been very good this series also. Think we could play Wade as a specialist bat, but overall think Paine is the right man.
