Opened the batting in odi's for Australia and did OK.

Staistically Paine is a much better one day player than the long form.
First Class- Ave 29 100's-1
List A- Ave 33 100's- 8

Paine has been great since being back for the Aus team. I think he's one of those players who rises to the higher level. He isn't a test number 6 though. 1 ton in over a 100 First Class/Test matches proves this.

Averages around 28 and strikes at 71, needs far stronger numbers than that nowadays, if you can't strike at 100 you wont get a keeping gig, Kaluwitharana then Gilly created that, injected the game with some flair.

Paine is a good keeper and a honest batsmen. That's it, he is as sound technique and plays with discipline. His 2nd innings with the bat showed this in my opinion, it also showed why he is the captain and why he is highly rated.

Mitch Marsh will replace Pete Handscomb in the boxing day test. Can understand Handscomb being dropped but for Mitch Marsh who is no form whatsoever FFS. I would of been happy with an unchanged side.

Ravi Ashwin has not recovered from his abdominal strain so will not play and Murali Vijay and KL Rahul has both been dropped.

Deplorable.

I’ll be more pissed when the MCG turns out to be another road and M Marsh scores big, thereby justifying his selection.

I would’ve rather they played the little leg spinner from Nuri

Manyank Agarwal to debut at the top of the order for India and will partner Hanuma Vihari being promoted from number 6. The (new) opening combination works in Australia's favor again.

Stats and Trivia for tomorrow's match-

Mitchell Starc needs four wickets to reach 200 in Tests

Nathan Lyon already holds the record for the most wickets taken by an Australian spinner in a series against India on home soil (23 in 2014) but with 16 already from two Tests this time he could go past that.

Virat Kohli has scored five Test hundreds in 2018, equalling his tally from 2017 as his best year. A century in Melbourne would put him alone in second place for the most in a year by an India batsman behind Sachin Tendulkar's seven in 2010

India have two previous victories in Melbourne: in 1977, then won by 222 runs against a side ravaged by World Series Cricket and in 1981 when the margin was 59 runs as Australia were skittled for 83 chasing 143

Is it bad that Shaun Marsh is apparently in our top two batsman?

They certainly did with me, I was hoping that bloke would stop. Sounded like a cat being dragged behind a car.

Only 10 balls in but I’m not sure about this pitch. Looks pretty docile

Yep, poor carry for a first day pitch. Once this ball gets old, it won’t do a thing.
Another Boring Boxing Day Test Match.
