I get what you’re saying but are we messing with our comp any more than other countries.

I genuinely don’t know the answer

I can’t think of any other nation that builds its season around its T20 comp at the detriment of their longer format stuff.

It’s not only the format set up - it’s the attempt to fast track talent with the CA squads including the CA XI for a couple seasons in the ODD, it’s the emphasis placed on performance in short form cricket being a higher importance than long form... take Handscomb - blasts 70 last night in a T20 on a small ground against an average attack and he’s the talk of the nation again.

Fleming literally just said “best thing he could do after struggling against the red ball is go hit some balls against the white ball - and he did”

Had to chuckle when one news station this morning declared Handscomb a big chance to earn a test recall after a brilliant knock in the T20 last night

Anyone can do better than those two to be honest

They were averaging that yes, my point is you cant be away from the game for the period of time they have and come straight back in and succeed at the highest level.

As for Warner may be the fact if he is picked a number of players currently playing may not do so

I see that Smith today has just signed to participate in another o/s T20 comp starting 5th Jan

Nothing more certain M. Marsh got recalled after a display of 0 with the bat and 0/50 off of 4 ;)

I've always had some respect for Indian fast bowlers they're on a hiding to nothing bowling over there on their pitches and I like the way Bumrah goes about his work.

Not sure what all the fuss is about the Aussie batting....151 is an ok T/20 score.

Just heading down to the oval now for a session on the bowling machine... some of our batters should try that sometimes!
It will rain tomorrow. I washed the car!

Bumrah showing again how good he is with a six wicket haul, he's a jet.

And it makes me sick to say it, Jadeja bowled really well too for his first match in Australia.

Finch and Marsh x 2 need to do everyone a favour and drop themselves.

Greg Chappel’s sickening obsession with being the one to find the “next big talent” has seen young players come and go, or pushed into the deep end too early and flounder.

Sheffield Shield was a premier competition, now it’s a joke.

Get used to it, T20 is the cash cow that’s here to stay and we will continue to go backwards as a nation.

Our model is not that much different to India yet they have no problem producing talent. Yeah, let's blame Greg Chappell.

We could replace Finch with a cardboard cut out and it wouldn’t do any worse.

Renshaw for one.
Just leave him in the team and let him develop.
Finch isn’t a Test opener.

I’d play Stoinis before M. Marsh.

Shaun Marsh has had plenty of opportunities and just has not taken them.
I’d play an overweight 50+ year old playing in the veterans league before him.
Know anyone available?

Good idea. Replace him with a cardboard cutout of Warner. The cutout would be both smarter and a better bloke than Davy.

Finch’s selection in this team is the worse decision I’ve ever seen in Australian cricket.

Listening to ABC Grandstand as I was driving home.
They made the points, that we have been saying for ages.
T20 is killing our Test Cricket with, technique, no real consequences if you fail.
T20 is run over 9 weeks? Vs IPL 6 weeks and the IPL doesnt clash with their local 4 day comp that runs for 5 months, or international cricket
No Sheffield Shield cricket for best part of 3 months. Early december to end of march

So its no surprise we are no longer dominant in test cricket, and until the program is sorted, unlikely we will be any time soon
