Duke ball will destroy us basically

We're using it for the last half (4 games) of the Shield season, yes?

That we can't go there with ego's and we need to be very patient.

Kohli, ego, lol.

"we"!

That guy thrives on it and we have no one that is even in the same library as him.

I've been super impressed with his persona, attitude, conduct and respect this summer, even after he won the toss and was interviewed, immediately after it, as soon as the interview was done he quickly intervened before they interviewed Paine and wished him "all the best".

His speech on New Years Day was first class as was the one in the final presser.

I wasn't much of a fan pre-summer but I've certainly grown an enormous amount of respect for him since.

He backs it up on and off the field.
Couple of Aussie cheats could learn a valuable lesson from him.

In that case, Renshaw to the top with Burns 3 and Uzzie 4.

I like your thinking!
Only 4 tests too late but...........

^^ Sounds good, with Marnus at 5 and Head at 6

I think Marnus will be the one to miss out unless they think they need two spinners. Does Canberra spin?

Renshaw
Harris
Khawaja
Burns
Head
Pucovski

Burns the easy out to accomodate Smith, Warner dependent on the openers form

FMD!
You can’t make this shit up

Hohns said the “door is not closed” on Shaun Marsh returning to the Test squad, with the Ashes series in England coming up later in the year.

“Shaun certainly hasn’t done what we would like him to have done over the last period,” Hohns said.

“I’m sure he would say the same thing. As far as the Ashes goes that’s a little way off. He now has an opportunity in one-day cricket to get some form back.”

Isn't Burns the guy that becomes a nervous wreck if he doesn't open?

Concerns me that Pucovski makes a double ton at the start of the season then hardly played since (if at all), then into a Test Squad....

If he plays, which I'd be surprised if he does, seems to be ( from where I sit ) more about exposing him to the system at national level.

I hope they use this as an opportunity to drop Khawaja down the order, he has to bat 4 I think.

Why so Khawaja can be exposed by the spinners even earlier in his innings.

At least by opening or coming in at 3 (inside the first 5 overs anyway) he gets a couple of overs from the pacemen before his customary dismissal to a spinner shortly into their spell

Yeah very true, I wasn't a fan of his either. Still not really but I do respect him. Off the field he is an interesting person, he clearly loves the game.

Hrs had a good summer here in Oz. Well done to him.

So all series you hear we need blokes making 1000's and 1000's of runs at shield cricket before giving blokes a go. Soon as a kid makes 200 we pick him. Blokes like David Hussey and Jamie Siddons must be shaking their head, poor blokes never played test cricket, they'd probably be Captain these days.

If they were going to go Renshaw they may as well of went with Bancroft.

I think you might be reading the selectors right, but it shows their BS thinking.
Unless we have a genuine all-rounder, we need six genuine batsmen, one of whom can bowl 6 overs a day, like Head or Maruns can, not force Marnus to be an all-rounder and not be disposable based on his bowling.
I don't like Head-Pucovski. Head is a number 6, especially at the moment, and they are trying to force Pucovski. We need Head at 6 and a batsmen with a better technique and patience at 5 and at that moment that is Marnus or Burns.
Is Head on thin ice? His dismissals in Adelaide weren't great but things that happen, but his last five were very ordinary at best and brings into question how he genuinely, gut-bustingly he "wants"it.

Although his dismissals were very ordinary you have to take into account what he had done before being dismissed, he was our leading runscorer for the series and he is a high risk batsman, I have my concerns how he will go on the seaming English decks.

Agree he is high-risk and that's why I'd have him at 6, and he did help set up our first innings and Adelaide and Perth, but at other times didn't do what was required in the context of the game

If Australia is to regain ANY sort of credibility, those 2 should never to be seen in Australian colours again.

I disagree, they've been punished and have done their time.
