Australian Domestic Season 2018-19

Postby Tony Clifton » Wed May 09, 2018 10:14 pm

Victoria have targeted a teenage South Australian leg-spinner as the Bushrangers look to regenerate their spin stocks.

Tom O’Connell, 17, has been pursued by Victoria to join them for the upcoming season as the Bushrangers look to move on from veteran Fawad Ahmed.

O’Connell is yet to be confirmed as a recruit, however it’s understood Victoria have been in advanced discussions about poaching the young leggie, who has earnt the praise of Australian spin great Ashley Mallett.

Surely not?!

Would be terrible if we lost him. Is a serious prospect.

I believe the Vics tried to get Patrick Page a couple of years ago. Surely poaching kids from the worst-performed state is out of bounds?

I was amazed we didn't give O'Connell or Pope a gig in a Future's League game towards the end of the season.
