Short priced favourite. I'm not sure that any other names have been bandied around recently.

Been saying since the start he was a certainty.

Not that you get a good glimpse but all throughout the broadcast and news footage etc the players always seemed to be getting around McDonald. He seemed to have strong relationships with them.

When Cummins came out and talked about the style of Langer and how that didn't suit the team it just has to be McDonald who is the complete opposite from Langer, I met him and saw him operate during his time at Port Adelaide and he was very measured and calm.

Damage control

If he come out and said he was super keen for the gig would have put him amongst the playing group which clearly ousted Langer.

The game has been kind to him as I only seen him as a genuine plodder, good on him, 40 years old and coaching the national side in all formats.

Can't see him making any big calls but can see him installing strong discipline amongst the group.

That is one way of putting it!

I expect CA to announce Michael Beer and Bryce McGain as assistants.

Alistair Clarkson was only a plodder but has turned into arguably one of the best coaches in the AFL.

Nathan Buckley on the other hand....

He had balls though as a player, then came over to SA to coach the Doggies to a premiership in his inaugural season, his coaching talents must have been recognised pretty quickly.

Ronnie is only 40 and coaching a national side, usually our coach has had a pretty prominent test career, hopefully he can have the same success as Buchanan did.

Agreed, but gee Kenny Hinkley could've coached that late 90s - mid 00s Austrailan team to success.

Not really anything we didn't already know.

Langer is intense......players wanted a calmer atmosphere and neither party was willing to meet in the middle. Player power won this fight.

I don't think either is right or wrong...…..the only thing I cant help but think is that player power can be dangerous because there only a player in that team as long as their form is good. What happens in a years time if 3,4,5 players are turned over will the attitudes still be the same.
