He's got inside the Aussies head IMO
Well clearly he's got inside your head! ; )

I think the media tend to overestimate the psychological impact of fast bowlers. He's taken wickets by bowling good balls, not by intimidating us into getting out.

Didn't paine say you were going to bat anyway? But yes if you have the overheads we did we seriously struggle to get 150.
Yes, he said at the toss he would of batted anyway.

A lot of pre match interviews with the Australian hierARCHy and the players
The most mentioned England player was The Joff, again
The coach and players mostly praising the superstars ability
Very little mention of the other England players

ARCHER so far this series
2/58[29]
3/32[15]
6/45[17.1]
11/135 of 61.1 overs
The Joff has also KOed Steve Smith for at least this test match

So why is The Joff so good so far ?
A :Has he been inspired by the pre match hypes
B: Is he simply a star bowler ?
C: Are the Australian batsman as a whole not good enough ?
D :Is it the English conditions ?
E : All of the above

The Joffs BIGgest 'test' might be when he bowls on flat decks in particular away games

Im tipping an amazing test career overall

The Joff reminds me of another great fast bowler, Richard Hadlee
If he ends up almost as good as Sir Richard, it will be a great career

Question
If Jimmy Anderson is available next test who takes the new ball if the following are all selected
Archer
Anderson
Broad

AU made 179
The Australian top 6
74 runs the right hander
77 runs the left handers

The fact that the Marshes don't get a gig also shows that our batting depth is improved.

Slightly incorrect, Mitch is in the squad and with Wade failing again means the selectors will be getting excited knowing they are one step closer to picking him.

If he was an aussie you guys would be frothing over him. He still bowls to short but hes 24 and has shown an ability to challenge the best player seen in a long time like no one else has so your god damn right we are excited by him. His talent is unquestionable.

You guys talk up Pattinson like hes a god and he averaged 55 in the first test.

Broad and Woakes have bowled better than Archer.
Archer isnt fit to tie Cummins bootlaces and stats at the end of their careers will prove that to be so
Hey Jim you Negative Nancy, are you starting to rate Archer yet?

Agree JJ
I would have batted first
AU were 2/136 and looking capable of making 300+
Made 179
Joe Root ends up looking good, risk for reward
But it was also a risky send in, particularly with Nathan Lyon to bowl in the 4th innings of this match

Never said I didn’t rate him I said the commentators talk about him like he is the greatest already. Would still take Cummins over him and the Poms would have been rolled for 80 if we bowled yesterday.

Warner 47.02
Head 46.94
Khawaja 40.91
Labuschagne 34.30
Paine 32.15
Harris 30.45
Wade 27.88
Pattinson 27.21
Cummins 20.00
Hazlewood 12.64
Lyon 11.92

There's a fair few on the list before Khawaja to go IMO.

Although it would be interesting to see his numbers vs opponents and in various countries.

No doubt he's boosted his stats at home and struggles on the road (Averages 28 in away games) and that drops further to just 19.36 in the UK.

He was ok in the first dig at Lords, making 36 while Smith was the only other bat to make it past 25. Also he hit 40 in the second dig in the first test which set up our innings and allowed blokes like Wade to cash in once the pressure was off.

Without seeing what happens in the second dig of this test, I'd be looking at Wade to make room for Smith, not Khawaja.

Righthander top scores again. For someone relatively out of the loop these days, do we have any half decent right handed batsmen up our sleeve?

Will Pucovski would be the only one based on last season's SS stats, Doolan and Larkin did ok but their averages aren't great and that includes an unbeaten 175 from Larkin.

You wouldn't even mind a 4/2 split, as long one was an opener, but L,L,L,R,L,L plays right into the bowlers hands.

Forget career look at his last year and career overseas record

Average less than 20 an innings over 12 innings on English soil

Pathetic and top of the list to go

Usman Khawaja Stats!

This is Australia's Number 3

As of last Aussie Summer averages- 28.5
Average in England- 19.036
Average Overseas- 28.86

IN ORDER BASED ON CURRENT TEST RANKINGS

Average vs India- 28.29
Average vs New Zealand- 72.00
Average vs England- 30.01
Average vs South Africa- 34.75
Average vs Sri Lanka- 28.00
Average vs Pakistan- 70.86
Average vs West Indies- 100

Only has 1 average that would be considered a PASS versus the top 5 ranked opponents.

Yeah, I'd rather Marnus at 3 then if we have no right handed opener.
