I thought they would of automatically gone with Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins, obviously one of Starc or Hazlewood will miss out.

The right call... pattinson and Cummins are the bowlers in form. Starc and Hazelwood are both behind them. Josh has not hit his straps at any stage since his return so I suspect Starc takes the 3rd fast bowling spot.

I'm actually thinking that they are going to do a backflip and pick Siddle, that's based on hearing Langer's presser overnight.

I'm concerned on how they'll go in the middle order too, their love affair for Mitch Marsh is scary, Marnus has runs on the board, I'm not sure they'll swing towards Wade although I'd like to think his medium pacers could get him over the line to fill in half a dozen overs if needed.

Head might be lucky being the only bloke who could captain the side if they get rid of Paine.

Cummins is VC, he'd take the reigns if need be.

Wade/Labuschagne is the line ball, both of them bowl puss though, so.....

Hazlewood plays ahead of Siddle.

Head is a VC too

He’ll bat 5, and if Paine gets the A (unlikely) Head will be chosen as skipper over Cummins given his 1st class experience in the role and not wanting to over burden Cummins.

Bowling Captains (especially fast bowling captains) in Australia are as rare our test matches against the Bangas!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Postby Down the Hill » Wed Jul 31, 2019 3:28 pm

Head has to play. His form in the warm up games prior to the Internal Trial was very good. Marnus has played 10 county games for Glamorgan this season and bowled 192 overs and taken 19 wickets at an average of 38. And in those 10 games he's scored 240 runs more than anyone else in Div 2 of the County Championship with 1114 runs at an average of 65 with 5 hundreds and 5 fifties and an impressive strike rate of 76. So my team would be:

Warner
Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Labuschagne
Paine
Pattinson
Cummins
Starc
Lyon

Maybe, while Head is joint VC he's not 100% assured of his spot at the moment.
