Down the Hill wrote:Head has to play. His form in the warm up games prior to the Internal Trial was very good. Marnus has played 10 county games for Glamorgan this season and bowled 192 overs and taken 19 wickets at an average of 38. And in those 10 games he's scored 240 runs more than anyone else in Div 2 of the County Championship with 1114 runs at an average of 65 with 5 hundreds and 5 fifties and an impressive strike rate of 76. So my team would be:

Warner
Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Head
Labuschagne
Paine
Pattinson
Cummins
Starc
Lyon
This is my team aswell and what I think they'll go with.

Warner

Khawaja
Smith
Head
Wade
Paine
Cummins
Pattinson
Lyon
Hazelwood

This will be the 11.
I would rather not see Hazelwood in the team, he has been rubbish for at least 12 months if not longer, he doesn't even dry up runs anymore, plus Cummins and Pattinson are quite economical anyway. So for me its Siddle, Starc not even worth mentioning. Starc will play if in place of siddle if we get dry pitches and reverse swing comes into it.

Yup... wade will play.
Only spot thats up in the air will be Starc Siddle or Hazlewood for 3rd pace bowling spot. Hazlewood has no form and Starc is erratic. With Pattinson taking the role as enforcer we need a reliable back up... reckon Siddle might get the nod.

No real surpirse there with archer not quite fit yet and they want to save him for the flatter pitches. Going to be a hard place to bat edgbaston so happy with the 3 seamers in those conditions. Not sure why root had to move to 3 due to some silly old school thinking but anyways not my place. Siddle has to play for the aussies, edgbaston is the place to play him.

As silly at it sounds Labusachagne is a cert to play if they use the same system as Lehmann had inherited.

Having spoke to boof, he mentioned they never had a player front the press in the week before the test unless they were playing. Labuschange was the face of the press conference held a couple of days ago which if Lehmann was still coach would mean he was playing.

I know it sounds silly but yeah.

I don't hate him, he's probably a ripping bloke, I hate the selection because his straight up and down 130k fodder will be easy pickings.

We've spent our last two domestic summers playing half a year with a Duke ball to get our batsman ready to play a swinging ball, we know the Duke is going to hoop around and Siddle is going to get picked ahead of Starc? Tell me that makes sense.

145k innies vs 130k straight up and down.

I called it yesterday, Langer loves him, he says he's a great motivator and adds something to the dressing room, the conditions suit him to a tee aswell.

And that's how the Irish tore them apart.

I'd prefer him not in the team but they obviously think he's that man.

Have we ever made so many changes to a team that won it's last test?

Well that's just super, he can be 12th man and sit in the dressing room for 5 days.

You can swing it all you want, it's not gonna matter one bit if you can't hit the pitch.

I maintain that we lost the Adelaide test last year due to Starc's appallingly inaccurate bowling and ensuing byes.

It happened last time in England - as soon as Starc has a bad couple of overs, the batsmen get on top of him and he completely loses control.

It'll surprise me if Hazlewood doesn't play but really he's been in poor form and Siddle's shown every indication on this and previous tours of England that he bowls well in English conditions.

I agree with the idea here though - picking good blokes in the eleven when they should be good blokes carrying the drinks has seen Nick Marsh play 40-odd tests.

Langer could be the Crows next coach with selection policies like that.

He’s got the Don Pyke stare already!

Not sure Langer would be in for nudist camps like Don though.

Nah, worried he'll bump into his daughter there, she loves getting her kit off.
