They need to give McDermott and Christian an opportunity now.
Marsh the shinning light once again!

Yep, I'd persevere with Philippe for the remainder of this tour, it was enough of an audition, there's just no room for Turner, batting 6 or 7 he's never gonna hit a half ton unless we're 4/10, he will never strike at 160 or above and we have enough all-rounders that can fill in the middle to lower order positions while being able to contribute with the ball if need be.

We should be investing time in the middle for McDermott, he has to bat 4, 5 at the lowest and yeah, let's actually see if Dan is up to it, chucking him in for a game here or there is pointless, he'd put too much pressure on himself to perform, telling him he has a guaranteed 5 games to prove his worth would take the edge off we'd get a better result, or alternatively we'd see that he just aint up to it.

whufc wrote:I don't follow the T20 closely but are we the only country who still doesn't play their best 11 every single time.

You throw, Warner, Smith, Cummins into the side and that's a huge difference, especially in t20 where one performance can easily win you a game.

Yep, Warner and Smith gives that top order a whole new look, the other opener role is still up for grabs as is the keeper, in today's game it's usually a dual role.

With the T20 WC being held in the UAE we really need to focus on batsmen that can handle turning wickets.

Cmon fellas, Christian, really??
He beats up on the 4th, 5th 6th bowlers in a Big Bash league that is amongst the worst in the world. I dont think there is any doubt about this anymore, f me the Hong Kong 6's is probaly a better standard haha.
He has not improved at what? 38 years of age, nobody does, he has always been just not quite good enough, wether it be shield cricket or domestic one dayers and now we are trying to build a case for him at International level, please, turn it up.

All bullshit aside, we shouldn't have sent him, but look at some of the other chops over there, may aswell nip it in the bud now as a failed experiment.

I just think he should get a game in the current series as the others have showed they're not good enough and need to be replaced and Christian is the option there. Going forward into the World Cup it's hard to see him being in the squad if all the guys not playing at the moment are to come back in for the WC.

I get what you are both saying, but he should never have been picked in the squad to start with and then didnt they pick him for an ODI, on what basis, because he was there?

They shouldve taken a young all rounder like Wildermouth if they wanted someone who wasnt up to it, at least he has age on his side, he may improve.

I agree with that aswell Daisy, obviously the Australian selectors think he's good enough to be in the T20 team at this current stage.

I think CA see the BBL in a much bigger light than what we do.

Get rid of a couple of teams and make it state vs state franchises, then we might see more money in the salary caps to entice better players to come across, with more cricketing nations being in the northern hemisphere it should be easier to entice these guys into the glitz and glamour of the BBL.

Australia give Nathan Ellis a debut.

Averages 1 wicket a match at more than 8 an over.

With the bat has a high score of 14.

Nathan Ellis playing his first game for Australia replacing Starc, McDermott is in for Phillippe and Christian in for Tye.

That's two ins I wanted to see plus Wade is listed to open with McDermott and Carey is listed at five so see how the Aussies go with a changed team.

Gets a hatrick with the last three balls. Credit where it's due. Well done.

Good fightback after going for 29 off 3.

Bangladesh won by 10 runs and take the series 3-0.
Aus 4/117 from 20 overs
Marsh 51 (47)
McDermott 35 (41)
Probably the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers was Islam with 2/29 but The Fiz (Mustafizur Rahem) went for just 9 runs off his 4 overs to help restrict the Aussies.

Same old story for Australia over the last 8 T20 matches now, the bowling has been pretty consistent and decent across the games with some excellent individual performances but the batting has been f*king poor.

Wade has set about a dozen records in his first four matches as captain.

None with his bat.

We actually won!

Swepson with outstanding figures along with Tye but it was up to the batsmen and finally we were able to bat well enough to chase down their score.

Christian with a match winning innings, who would of thought @daysofourlives
