Clear plan from the Indians is go out and just smash Cummins and Strac all over the park and it works a treat

Sharma 119, reach 9000 ODI runs
Kolhi 89, 5000 ODI runs as captain in 82 innings.

Add to that the Starc Ashes omission & dropping Head for the fifth Ashes test when they should’ve won 3-1 over there.
Forget the PR fanfare, The bloke clearly is a yes man & plays favourites.

He has a love of WA cricketers.

No Ashton deserves a spot in the team, why play a batsman at 7? If you're not a quick scoring middle order batsman, you have no place in the team, shoot me down in flames if you like but you can't have Smith and Marnus 3 and 4 or thereabouts, brilliant in the longer form but we need one of them to have the ability to strike at 130 once they have their eye in, Smith could possibly but Marnus can't.

Smith's 130 at a run a ball is great if we have Maxwell's, Carey's and Short's striking at 140+ around him, otherwise it's a bit of an anchor in today's game where 320 is par at best generally.

I'm a little bit glad that we got beaten, piss the little boys club off and pick players on merit and current form.

I might be wrong but didn’t Maxwell make himself unavailable for the India series?

No, left out due to a “lack of competitive cricket” since October & an average World Cup performance.
But hey, we had Starc coming in at 5 last night...

Fair enough. I thought when he took his indefinite leave for mental illness he ruled himself out and only decided to play the BBL

I don't mind this sort of thing, we lose nothing if he gets out without wasting too many balls, we might pinch hit 35 off 16, our batsmen are placed under too much pressure to perform and a 22 of 14 is deemed as a failure, but still, it just reeks of needing someone like Maxwell in there opposed to Turner.

Not sure there are any other allrounders worthy of selection

Picked over an in-form Stoinis who deserved to be in the T20 squad at least but we all know Stoin has struggled in ODI cricket in the past and also like Daisy posted a few days ago he'll never be picked as an opener (where he's obviously been playing and playing well) in front of Finch and Warner. As frustrating as it's been in the past personally I don't mind them picking Mitch for T20 and ODI cricket.

Jhye Richardson is another WA boy to come back into the T20 squad but I'm happy to see him back in the Aussie set up. I think he should eventually replace Kane Richardson in the ODI team.

Turner needed to be dropped and Wade is a better option than Handscomb. With Maxwell and Marsh back the Aussies have some much needed power to compliment Warner, Finch, Smith, Labuschagne and Carey.

Meanwhile an Australia A 12 man squad has been named to face the England Lions in a 4 day match at the MCG on Feb 22nd.

U. Khawaja
W. Pucovski
K. Patterson
M. Henriques (c)
M. Stoinis
J. Inglis (wk)
M. Neser
J. Pattinson
M. Swepson
J. Bird
M. Steketee

And Ashton Agar.

Offset it by leaving Stoinis out.

I wouldn't have Labba in there with Smith as I've stated before, unfortunately we're playing the Saffers so we'll appear better than we really are.

Why???? Just why?

Surely there's a kid that opens, even Weatherald, what does it prove having Uzi there?
Moises is 33 now, never made the big step when given the opportunity, why bother with this shit? Being a good bloke shouldn't gift you games.
Neser, maybe I'm being a tad harsh considering he was a professional drinks steward for a few months.
This is the sort of game that gets Pattinson injured, he has nothing to prove, he's in our best 4 pacemen, rest him as much as possible.
Another 33 year old, he's never gonna break back into the test team, give a kid a go FFS!!

Stoin wasn't picked simply as he hasn't bowled for months, Marsh has, makes sense to me.

Anyone else remember when the Australian team played 1 day cricket at this time of year in Australia against a touring team?

Don't think he would stand a chance passing that test.
