Like it or not I'd hardly call it boring.

I'm not a huge fan but watch it because it is still cricket, good to see the big hits, the desperate fielding and the bowlers trying to find different ways to be economical.

I love the way Ferg has found the ability and confidence to hit 6's, he backs himself even when fielders are on the fence, it certainly helped us in our ODD comp.

Each to their own, it was on in the background last night, and I did watch a bit of Ferg & Ross batting. I did however doze off on the lounge at the start of the second innings.... who won?

My thoughts exactly, the fielding in particular is usually very good and fielding in T20 has helped evolve the game for the better.

Not saying there isn't any skills on display, and I agree on the point re fielding, that has permeated its way through to the longer versions of the game. T/20 just doesn't hold my attention anymore. Test cricket different story, will watch every ball.

Yeah agreed, it doesn't hold my attention mainly because of all the fanfare, bells and whistles (like the fireworks) that come with it and the way the commentators like to pump it up.

Forgot to add above, it has been a great way to expose our domestic cricketers, young players and international imports to the general public.

Ditto.. sadly though and this will probably sound weird, but I think it's because I am bored of the T20 game - like when it first started the big hits etc were good because it was fresh but now you know pretty much what you're going to get.

Just doesn't seem to be the same intrigue as their once was, and frankly appears less tactical side.

It just fails to hold my interest for any length of time sadly.. even things like taking a wicket seem to be less interesting.. it just feels to me like a 3hr centre wicket practise you'd have at your local cricket club.

It is boring - every night you can almost guarantee the script will be the same as the previous night, with the odd exception or stand out power hitting and just different colours on the tv.

It's cricket, therefore I love it.

It has gotten my kids, especially my daughter involved, and now she plays in an all girls team, which I coach, and she plays friday nights in an all girls league, plus Sunday against boys, and I think thats fantastic.

New Years Eve as a (nearly) 48 year old is a real great night with all my family, and friends (some newly formed at the BBL).

I think its great.

Beating up on the likes of Sri Lanka and Pakistan has waned my love of test cricket, especially when the media focus on Warner when he went missing in the real games that mattered, I still enjoy it but generally just have it on for the occasional update.
I do agree with you regarding the T20 to some degree, I think the talent pool is too weak and there are too many sides, I think we’d all take more interest if it went back to state vs state playing everyone once at home and once away, it bridges the gap between the better teams and the weaker teams and games are generally won by individual efforts.
The fielding is my interest, even though Khawaja didn’t get that run out last night it was brilliant, especially considering he was on air a second or two earlier.
I used to love the WSC, there is zero interest now that’s gone, we gift blokes I’ve never heard of a cap, would never happen in our day mate.

This sentiment is an interesting one and one I've read/heard a few times so I looked into it. Looking through the list of ODI caps (I'm assuming you are talking about ODI cricket when you say WSC) I had a count so hopefully my numbers are right.
Amount of players debuted per decade-
1980's- 48
1990's- 31 (No debutants between 1989 and 1992)
2000's- 42
2010's- 47

Players with less than 10 matches-
1980's- 11 (9 played less than 5)
1990's- 7 (4 played less than 5)
2000's- 14 (11 played less than 5)
2010's 19- (14 had less than 5)

Almost the same amount of players debuted in the 80's than in the 2010's with a difference of 8 players playing more than 10 ODI matches in the 80's. 2/3 players currently playing that have less than 5 matches probably will add to their tally in the future.
I think the sentiment of gifting guys caps these days isn't as true as it may appear.

Fair bit of research there young fella, the 80’s seen WSC in its infancy along with the Rebel tour but still them numbers are big, plus we weren’t very good, most of the 80’s and early 90’s seen us generally send 16 man squads where most played both formats, probably why the numbers were lower in the 90’s.
Very interesting numbers though considering our dominance between the mid 90’s and 00’s.

Not doubting the benefits of it - my daughters and partner play now, and they enjoy heading along to Strikers (men & womens) games.. not doubting the concept, just personally I’ve found the product has become stale.

You can’t tell me with hand on heart that you and your family sit there night after night watching it with great interest.. Strikers games maybe, but others?

I think it’s great new people are getting into cricket Because of BBL, but to say the competition itself is great and a great product to watch as a result well I don’t agree.

Would also be interesting to see the number of games played by the team during that period.
15 new players in 20 games is totally different to 15 in 50 games.

I suspect the number of ODI games peaked in the 90s and therefore further highlights how stable the team was during that period.

T20 is great for cricket, the financials benefits, the increased participation from both genders, the opportunity for more professional cricketers to earn a living, the evolution of the game which now sees 360 batting, development of new bowling deliveries and the out of the world fielding.

Like others the though the BBL just doesn't hold my interest. The script is almost told within the first 5 overs of the game and the 'great' games are very few and far between.

I can't buy in to the franchise thing, support the redback boys throughout most of the summer to only then have to support against them and then support blokes I've hated on throughout the year.

It's better than watching home and away but for me there is just no passion there for the comp more so than not liking T20. I will watch the T20 world cup and probably get right into it but that's about it for me.

Take the girls to one mate, you wont be disappointed, neither will they, there's so much there for kids and it''s more than the game, it's the experience, especially the NYE one.

My missus hates cricket but thoroughly enjoyed the live BBL experience.

Agree with this - attending games is a far far better experience than watching on TV

Big Bash while not perfect is 10000x better than most trash on tv these days

I enjoy watching players that you rarely see play against each other, you can’t tell me you wouldn’t stop what you were doing if Starc was bowling at Smith

Does need a couple more international players per X1 imo
