Time to end the Salt experiment, Simmons gave us more.
Id even be happy if Lehman came in and opened, anything is better than Salt, maybe Nielsen opens? When we have both Carey and Head, Carey can open but the season could be gone by then

We’re allowed two imports so we use one of them getting an outfield catcher, that is all he is good for.

I thought our list looked poop to begin with and we exceeded expectations early in the tournament.

T20 is a very individual game though where games are generally won from a single effort and we do have match winners in Weatherald, Carey, Head and Khan.
We have two middle tier players in Wells and Siddle, the rest are 1 good game a season like, if we’re lucky.

Why the hell we got Cam White baffles me, especially when we have a frail middle order and we keep having to give Short a game, why don’t we just just Rashid up the order? If he fails, who cares? Better than him missing out on a hit or going in with 2 overs to go.

Cam White cost nothing and was basically captaining from mid off while Carey learns the job.

Paying big $'s to Rash (worth it) & Stanlake means the rest of the bowling needs to be covered by rookies, not sure where Valente went, I thought he was worth persisting with.

OK, I wasn't aware of what White would've been getting and figured the national VC would be capable of sailing the ship from behind the stumps, I'd rather see a young lad playing Grade cricket fulfilling a spot in the lineup opposed to a washed up Victorian.

I thought Valente was a bit of a hack early in the comp, his economy rate and averages suggested this but then I thought he grew in maturity during this comp, he bowled a couple of decent overs late in games and like you, I thought he was worth persisting with.

I'd offer Rashid and Siddle decent contracts (timewise), and build a bowling attack around them, piss Neser and Stanlake off unless we're going to use Neser as a pinch hitter too, surely there's a better OS batting option around than Salt, we don't need Short in there either.

Go big with another OS player (preferably some all-round ability) and get some SA kids in there.

FRIDAY
Weatherald
Neser
Head
Wells
Salt
Lehmann
Rashid
Nielsen
Valente
Siddle
O'Connor

The following game I'd swap Rashid and Neser, I'd put Neser into open this time around as he would've face Pattinson a lot more than Rashid has, he has obviously got us bent over on a barrel ATM.

Yeah I only noticed White was assisting captaining the side when I went to the early games, no surprise he is nowhere to be seen now Travis back.

Losing Laughlin and Ingram would have freed up some nice cash, I suspect Salt is getting a nice slice and retaining Stanlake would have cost some $'s.

Carey got an upgrade also.

Laughlin was a massive loss for us

I feel for the scorcher supporters though, having SMarsh, Stoinis, NCN, D'Arcy Short all playing for rival franchises makes it a bit of a farce.

The Heat have got it sewn up IMO, especially if any of the Stars get a call up to head to India.

Laughlin is starting to taper off, might have still been handy this year but I agree with not re-signing him long term.

Stars/Sixers GF for me, Heat are hot or cold. Perth the roughies.

ODI series is finished Sunday, cant see anyone being flown over if it isn't in the next 24 hours.

20 more matches in the next 12 days.

It's post Xmas, it's nearly the end of school holidays, everyone is back to work, nobody has any money to play with and they cram this all in at the end of a ridiculously long series.

Cricket Australia are just down right greedy.

The bubble will burst soon.
I like watching the odd game with a beer in the evening but there is just way too much of it currently.

CA need to get the programming right for next year as people will drop off due to saturation of it.

Agreed, it's either the jungle show, tennis or tee ball, tee ball it is but mate they've saturated the market with it.

Heard couple of rumours from very good source who is in the know high up, both not good for Strikers!!

Firstly, Rashid Khan has been offered huge coin to play next year for one of the Melbourne teams, almost certain he will be playing for either the Stars or Renegades from next season.

Also, the New Years Eve game will be played in Melbourne next year, hoping to get 80,000 plus to MCG.

You can’t blame the other teams though for chasing him, the guys as good as it gets in this format of the game.
As an international I’d choose Melbourne as well to live for that 3 month period.

Other than TV ratings I can’t see why they can’t play the NY eve game in 2 cities.

You reckon we are saturated with t20 at the moment?

Got 2 T20 world cups before the next BBL 8)

Who recruited Salt? He is simply not good enough to be in a BBL team, never mind as an import. Surely we have the money to attract someone better than a small name player like him? Too many average players in the BBL in general. White another piss poor recruit, clearly past domestic level,

Lucky we've had Khan since day one of him being here, we wouldn't recruit someone of his calibre now.

Bowling lineup has done it's job, batting lineup is very fragile.

I think the batting is solid but is missing that guy who can bulldoze a few over the rope late in the innings, Khan has done it a couple of times but needs help. Salt is just terrible, hopefully a one year contract.

Bowling is standard for bbl quality

Strikers might scrape 5th on the account of other teams canes and gades being awful
