I reckon we should try and get to a lead of 100 as quick as possible (say by halfway through the second session), then see if some pressure can be put on them by a few quick wickets before tea. Not likely, but that's what I'd like to see.

SA should be batting for as long as possible and try and drag it out as much as possible. If you're going to have one of the best quicks in the country bowling 'off spin' then you deserve to be in the field for as long as possible, what a f**king piss take.

Cooper is the glue that is keeps the Redbacks batting order together.

Disgruntled Victoria captain Peter Handscomb lamented South Australia's refusal to set up a final-day run chase in their Marsh Sheffield Shield clash, as the match he labelled "boring" and "pointless" descended into farce on Saturday.

"We were trying to get a game going – we thought 350 off 80 overs was going to be a fair target to chase," said the home side’s skipper.

"We couldn't come to an agreement on a pretty flat wicket. We thought that (our offer) was fine but turns out it wasn't. Eighty overs still isn't long enough to get 10 wickets but it sure as hell is long enough to get 350 runs, which we thought was pretty good."

Asked if he was annoyed, Handscomb said: "Yes … just annoyed the game is dead on day three.

"We've got two more sessions tomorrow of dead cricket, I've got to put my bowlers back out there and tie my (shoelaces) for a pointless game.

"We're all going to walk away from here with a draw, whereas we could have been competing for something tomorrow. Both teams could have been competing for a win tomorrow. Now it's just going to fizzle out for a draw.

"We'll shake hands at tea, tell everyone thanks for coming, sorry for such a boring game of Shield cricket… they come here and get a draw and that's it. Normally we beat them."

Watched a fair bit of the last session and a bit and Handscombe gesticulated a few times between overs at Cooper. He had himself, Marcus Harris and Pattinson bowling offspin, all fu**en pies for the majority of the last session. Handscombe chucked a few deliveries just to add to the farce. He created the situation then acted like a 2 year old when things didn't go his way. Bryce McGain and the other bloke on the coverage were embarrassed covering it and said SA had no obligation to make a game of it.

Exactly, if you want to make a game of it then why didn't you declare earlier?

Surely Handscombe's action are bordering on bringing the game into disrepute

How farcical, having a test opening bowler bowling donkey drop off spinners, Handscombe himself bowling a number of overs and if you believe what has been reported a number of deliveries he bowled were deliberate throws

If I was S.A. i would just bat and bat and bat, Handscombe has already said he will want the game called off at tea, i would tell him to get stuffed and play the game out, after all he was the one that opted to bat for close to 2 days and mass over 600

anyone know the stats on matches where both teams have made over 600 in the 1st innings of a match at any level of cricket?

Also a bit rich the Vics whinging about not making a match of it when in the 2009 Shield Final they batted on and on and on to compile 8/806 v Queensland which resulted in a draw. Different circumstances i know but F*****M

Andrews gone for 101
Cooper 233*
Redbacks 6/603

Assuming there was not a 614 score, the current 6/613 is the Redbacks highest ever Shield total against either Victoria, NSW or WA:
