It's like something out of our practice ball bucket at training that hasn't been refreshed with new balls for 5 years !!!!
Or when your spinner gets hit into the creek and it cant be found but you always seem to find one that was lost 3 years earlier

Ludicrous people are suggesting he shouldnt open first test, Hes an unbelievable player in home conditions. If your going to england again though maybe leave him home

Handscomb is a disgrace, but surely the curator needs to be held to account ss well. In 2018 the MCG test pitch was rated as poor because the state of the pitch didn't change, resulting in a boring draw. I assume the same crew is responsible for the Junction Oval. Cricket Australia should take action to ensure it doesn't happen again. Surely it's not that hard to produce a sporting pitch?

I'm pretty sure the curator of the 2017-18 MCG pitch was sent packing.

MCG and Junction Oval have different curating teams.

Apparently the Junction pitch was stuck under covers for days in the lead up to the game so no sun, didn't harden up, no grass cover early in season before the warmer weather comes. Not much they could have done.

Shield games should go back to uncovered pitches, that would make life more interesting!

Sayers and Valente replace Richardson and Zampa for Gabba on Friday.

Sayers bowled few overs for Glenelg on weekend. think he is well underdone and bit of a risk, can see him breaking down again if that's the case.

Agreed however I wonder if its a "horses for courses" selection given the match is at the Gabba where the pitch will be more "sporting" and he may generate some swing?

I'd guess that if Mennie or Worrall were fit and playing that Sayers would have been given a bit longer to recover.
