Personally I think we are comfortably ahead. Shouldn't score any less than 350, you would think with the heat the pitch will have to crack and wear and make batting on the 4-5 days extremely difficult.

If we can get to 350 you would think NZ would need at least 400 minimum first innings to be in the game.

Batting so slow done him in, the shaggers played a bland game of cricket today in hope that we'd play some rash shots, Marnus was outstanding, Smith was too worried about failing IMO.

It has draw written all over it already, 4 wickets and going at less than 3 an over, it's going to be what happens in the last session of each day that makes a difference, none of our bowlers could produce that Southee ball, what a ripper.

Yeah with the game moving slowly if either side finds itself in strife they will definitely have the opportunity to 'save' the game

How is it even close to even stevens? NZ a bowler down batting 2nd and 4th which is always a monster dis advantage in modern day test cricket.

Scenario 1 NZ bowl aus out for 350 in an incredible display of bowling playing well above average... They have to bat against new Ball in the second session then face a swinging pill in the 3rd session with bad light etc. (3rd session always brings wickets in DN tests)

Scenario 2 Aus bat and bat until start of the 3rd session where they chuck nz in with a 450 run deficit and lose 3 or 4 in the session tonight. Kiwis gonna have to do something truely astonishing to get back into this game imo.

Even if NZ roll Aus for 300 they will still get horrid batting condition tonight and with an opening bowler down its a long road to taking 10fa in 2nd dig, they would need to roll Aus bat all night and all day tomorrow and send Aus in Day 3 at night with a 50 run lead or so then bowl brilliantly.

Not having Ferguson bowl is a bonus for NZ, he is tripe on this deck, trying to bowl too quick, he's young and full of energy, he'll learn.

2:48 yesterday, it wasn't his back but it was his calf.

As soon as I watched him bowl I thought that action isn't sustainable, might mean he can bowl them fast but that action needs some work.
