Steve Smith is a gun... but that 65 mins this morning was as painful batting that I have seen. And to no avail. The game meandered and where we could have put some distance between the teams we did not.

In fact his dismissal proved a bonus with Paine creating the momentum that the innings was missing.

There has been a smorgasbord of garbage spinners tour Australia over the years but this plonker takes the cake.

Watling up to stumps to DGH would make him very dangerous.

I've read alot of comments on social media written by Kiwi cricket supporters asking why Ajaz Patel isn't in the team or even the squad. It seems like most of them rate Patel ahead or Santner and his first class and test numbers are alot better than Santner's and from what I've seen and read about Patel he is an attacking option while Santner plays a defensive role and they obviously prefer him because he's more of an allrounder that can bat but from what we have seen he doesn't look like the spinner that can support their very good pace trio.

Great call that AE, definetely looking that way at 5/428, Australia made 492 in the first innings of the 2002 Brisbane Ashes test match when Hussain sent them in.

Wagner 34 overs, de Grandhomme 30, Southee 30, Boult 30, they must be loving their captain's decision to send the opposition in!
NZ bowled 215.3 overs in Perth and have now bowled 145 in this innings, Aus bowled 121 overs in Perth.
