Head will never take the next step.
Head has no mental ability.
Head needs to relinquish his spot for an allrounder. Any allrounder. Lets face it, Henriques M Marsh or Green could make the occasional handy 50 that Head does BUT will also provide some overs.

I think Head needs some runs to prove his worth or else should be dropped, but I don't understand the obsession with allrounders.

The top six need to have a FC average at least in the 40s, IMO.

Even our last genuine test-level allrounder, Richie Benaud, didn't take the spot of a batsman.

Reckon Shane Watson would feel a bit hard done by there. Surely to be a genuine all rounder your batting average has to be higher than your bowling average.

Watson- 35 with bat, 33 with ball
Benaud- 24 with bat, 27 with ball

An all rounder is the insurance needed in the event a bowler pulls a hammie after 8 balls. The 4th innings might be frustrating if the kiwis dig in. With just 3 frontline bowlers we would be relying on Marnie coming up with enough decent deliveries to keep the batsmen guessing.

No doubt about that, could be an entertaining 2nd session and a bit, get a lead up over 400 and send them back in for the last hour tonight

Yeah cant see this making day 5

Fair play to the curator, you can't prepare a pitch for the fu**en apocalypse but he's still managed to do a far better job than the clown in Adelaide.

I get the temps in Perth but you can’t be happy with a pitch that is a spitting cobra on the 3rd day. One more afternoon bake and that pitch is going to be a landmine. I’d be tempted to declare now in case another bowler cops a broken hand, finger or arm...

Adelaide and Brisbane are by far the best Test decks in the country. As a venue Adelaide is far better and would be one of the best 3-5 cricketing venues in the World. It’s been curated over the years to get a result in the last 4 sessions which means runs galore for the first 3 days. The only time it changed was when they played the first day-night Test and they were worried about the pink ball scuffing up, so they made it a green top. To suggest Adelaide is a road is a bit rich. It has consistently produced the best outcomes (Most days and results) for a very long time.

Depends how you look at it

Personally I believe a pitch should produce a result through 4 completed innings.

Off the top of my head I would say Adelaide is very reliant on declarations especially in the first innings, no stats to back it up.
