Kiwis bowling was a touch better mainly thanks to Wagner sticking to a plan but I thought the Pakistani’s on the whole looked a bit better with the bat. They passed 300 twice from two tests whereas NZ could play another 6 tests and not make 300 in an innings. Staggering to think Latham and Nicholls were rated top 10 coming into this series they both looked like park cricketers

Very embarrassing the way the Kiwis rolled over today to be bowled out in just 47.5 overs. de Grandhomme takes the award for the worst dismissal, from the highlights I watched he played some real nice shots for his 52 but then to hit it down the throat of deep mid wicket was just a stupid way to throw his wicket away.

Taylor got a peach from Cummins, a terrible day for him and the team but a great moment for him surpassing Stephen Fleming and now having the most test runs for NZ.

Labuschagne fell 9 runs short of Wally Hammonds record of most runs in an 5 test match season. Labuschagne made 896 runs in the 5 matches.

Lyons 10 wickets for the match takes him above Ian Botham and now equal with Makhaya Ntini on 390 test wickets.

New Zealand are shithouse. Our A team would knock them over. Just to think they have been licking their lips for a shot at Australia for 2 years. Lucky we didn’t play them at The Gabba, it would have been over in just over 2 days.

Other then South Africa no one consistently makes an interesting series in Australia. India at the moment is the only good series for Australia here otherwise the rest will all be like this sadly. In my 26 year lifetime i can only recall 2 or 3 really interesting series in Australia.

That made me think how many times over the last 20 years has the SCG test been a dead rubber eg, the trophy their playing for cannot be won back.

TBH it feels like the SCG test is always dead rubber even when we have 3 games series. There might be some where the Aussies go into the SCG test 1-0 up but automatically retain the trophy. I wonder how many tests there has been where the trophy is on the line for that test.

2010-11 Ashes series was on the line going into the SCG test in that Australia could've tied the series with a win (although England had already retained the Ashes).

2003-04 v India was also tied going into the Sydney test.

Other than that I can't think of any live rubber SCG test in recent years.

Thanks so really 2003-04 was the only test where the winner of the trophy was alive.
