Boland now added to the Aussie squad for Boxing Day test with Hazelwood still unlikely. Talk of Starc being rested, surely not unless he is injured

Starc looked to have a back issue late in the day. Might be just a precaution.

Sounds like Hazelwood is still unlikely. Cummins back means you probably can rest Starc even without Hazelwood. Richardson gives you enough that you could play him with a Neser or Boland. Not sure Neser is going to take to hat many wickets without any movement.

With Green Coming on well now, seems like we are ok which ever way we go here.

Boland was added to the squad start of the Adel test when Cummins was ruled out.

Why the **** bring him over on those stats, especially if there is no trust to bring him in?
Picking him on potential and because he looks good apparently.

Bring Flintoff back then, he's a good looking rooster.

It sounds stupid based on those stats but I would pick Crawley over either opener now. He would be well suited to Australian pitches as he plays pace and bounce well, which the other two now do not. You have to remember how hard it is it open in england at the minute with the amount of swing and seam, warner is the best opener in the world and even he was made look silly there.

Melbourne could be the one pitch that suits hameed perfectly.

That's like putting Jack Watts at CHF for Melbourne on debut on Queens birthday weekend. Pointless. What are you achieving by doing that?

Yeah, I agree, I think he should be able to take advantage of the conditions and reach double figures.

The only way is up and if you keep doing the same thing you can't expect a different result.

Only 2 English players would make the Aust team on current form - Malan could open in place of Harris and Root would replace Green in the middle order - Green has bowled well but hasn't made runs yet. That's it.

They have both outscored Smith and with higher averages.

How is that even remotely like Jack watts? Crawley has played a dozen tests and made a test double ton. He also looked good in the only warm up game we played and he's only replacing burns who let's be honest just isn't up to it. Crawley has the game to succeed here in Australia.

When does Australia announce their squad.

Surely Harris is out and Street is in....still think Khawaja might be given the opening duties.

Cummins to come back in and either Starc or Boland to be out pending Starcs fitness.

I miss that aspect with today's drop-in pitches, years ago we'd have the GABBA to look forward to as it was the first test and would seam, the WACA would provide bounce and carnage, AO would see high scores then it would break up on day 4-5 to create a dour contest and the SCG for a spin off.

Agree with this 100%

it was one of the reasons why I as a SACA member voted against the redevelopment in 2012.

Could see the move to drop in pitches changing all the characteristics of the ground
