Pat Cummins (c), Ashton Agar, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Michael Neser, Steve Smith (vc), Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, David Warner.
Richardson not selected as he is being managed due to his injury issues.
Agar comes into the test squad.
The first test starts the 4th of March.
Agar is the only one I cant agree with. Surely his not the third best spinner in the country at shield level. Admittedly I haven't looked up his stats this year.
Other than that its pretty much what most would have picked. Would have loved to see Street or Hunt go over for the experience but I guess the purse strings are tight at CA at the moment with everything covid has thrown at them.
Left Armer & fact he can hold a bat bit gets Agar across the line I think. He's going over as third choice will only play if they need extra batting depth but with Green there now doubt that happens.
I thought Pukovski might have been straight back in for Harris but guess they want him to find his feet at shield level for rest of the year.
You won't find Agar's Sheffield Shield stats for 2021/22 Wuffer because he hasn't played a shield match for WA this season due to being a part of the Aussies T20 WC squad.
There's probably no one else in state cricket that could play that spinning all rounder role but the Australian selectors love Agar and the love affair continues. If everything goes right for the Aussies I doubt he will play.
Pucovski has only just returned to grade cricket for Melbourne CC in the new year, he made 70 opening the batting in their one day match on Saturday just gone and before that made scores of 40, 8 and 32 in a T20. He's set to play for Victoria for the first time in 398 days in today's SS match against SA.
The love affair with Agar is absolute craziness.
Yeah yeah I know he hit that 99 on debut but he average 27 with the bat at first class level which is bang on what Starc averages. At best his a handy lower order batsmen.
I know this sounds even crazier but compare these two players careers, both have not played FC cricket this year. I'm not saying pick him but his stats add up to a better selection surely. There is no way on the planet you can convince me Agar should be on that tour.
Agar 154 wickets @ 41.28 with a strike rate of 80.7 and economy of 3.06
Maxwell 77 wickets @ 41.22 with a strike rate of 73.7 an economy of 3.35
Agar 2166 runs @ 27.76 with 3 hundreds and 11 fifties
Maxwell 4061 runs @ 39.91 with 7 hundred and 23 fifties[/quote]Agreed mate, if Maxwell still bothered to play first class cricket he'd be on the Pakistan tour, he's really a wasted red ball talent.
