Both had a chance to show their metal and both produced the exact performance and shots that have got them out of the team.

And Joe Burns
And Matthew Renshaw
And Henry Hunt
And Alex Carey

In answer to your post
Should any of those 4 or Travis Head or Usman Khawaja make runs in the 2nd dig does that change things ?

Not necessarily if they aren't in the 15 man squad.

I think Burns will need to average 200 at shield level to get another go, Renshaw wouldn't be in a 15 man shortlist for potential batting spots, Hunt has no chance until Harris fails at least 4 times.

Carey would have an outside chance as I'm starting to think that Paine will be unavailable for the first test for one reason or another so he may get his debut by default.

I think you're probably right.

And yet, I reckon he performed a lot better in the baggy green than Harris has.

On the back foot no balls, the bloke is lobbing left arm off pies down, if that shit is getting you out you deserve to be seated, he's not screaming in throwing 160 km/h thunder bolts with a bent elbow.

The Mid order bat on CAs contract list finally made runs this week in Shield game against Victoria

CA selectors will be watching to see if K Patterson scores some more red ball 1st class runs

Terrible. Dropped three catches yesterday that basically cost WA the win. He aint getting picked.

Even though Carey got an absolute stinker today, think they will stick with Paine now.

How's weatherald booting the helmet away. Did chuckle when I saw that.

5 penalty runs for abuse of equipment would have topped off the redbacks day!
