This is a SACA problem yes, but it's also a cricket problem in general.

It's slowly getting better, but cricket is by far the worst for this sort of stuff.

The Old boys getting one up on the kids, the A-graders to the club's C/D graders, the state guys to the club guys, etc. There is this constant need to 'Alpha' the blokes below you in a cricket setting.

Most sports have it to a much smaller degree, but cricket it is still very prevalent.

Previously it didn't really bother me, but more recently I've noticed it more and more and to be honest its starting to drive me away from the sport.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

You have to wonder about the SACA hierarchy and their self respect and character to not have their pride, not pricked, but well and truly stabbed to death by these ever increasing and damning stats.

Ha! I just tweeted that very detail :

Queensland have won 8 titles
Victoria 7
NSW 5
Tasmania 3
Western Australia 3

Add to that the fact we have never really been close either makes for terrible reading.
How many wooden spoons have the redbacks got as well?

Surely they have to do an overhaul from the top now.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

15 since 95/96 shield win

Really should have won in 2016, won the toss but didn't bat for the draw, scored 340 in 93 overs
Dave Warner will be missed!

That’s a good effort to collect 15 in 26 odd years

Harry Conway to the redbacks next year. Would add some bowling depth to the shield squad.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Yep - on cricket.com.au that him and Thornton are on their way. In terms of the "outs", I believe Kerber, Gibson and Oakley have been given the boot. I also heard a whisper that a young player on the list has quit and may well end up interstate either this season or next season. Don't know who though.

+ Agar + Winter. David Grant unfortunately by being a local will probably see himself forced out.

Spencer got a full contract, as did Buckingham.

Added Thornton and Conway as mentioned, also Ben Manenti (off spinner from Tassie) and Aiden Cahill (allrounder from NSW and AUS U/19's).

Rookie contracts to Isaac Higgins and Harry Matthias.

Yet more interstaters. As mentioned before, this organisation is an absolute joke.
Too lazy and incompetent to develop their own talent so they are now looking for a quick fix by gifting full contracts to interstaters. Johnson deserves one but you now watch him break down after being subjected to the crap fitness regime they have in there. I'm not convinced yet on Lindsay Buckingham, and he won't get a game now anyway as he's behind all the others they've now brought in.
Good luck to young Matthias but clearly he is zero threat to Harry Nielsen's spot so you'd think this is deliberate by Tim Nielsen to protect his son yet again. Barrett has by far been the best keeper batsman in SA but due to him being a threat to Harry he never got a look in. Absolute corrupt organisation with such a s..t culture that they are so much on the nose it's not funny.
How many more games will Liam Scott be gifted? I'm sure Lehmann now has a long term deal as well so Tim can keep looking after his mates!!
No wonder we've been last the past 5 seasons and been crap for a long time and you still have the same people in charge. Unfortunately I fear the new CEO will be hoodwinked by Nielsen as well.
Rant over!!

Think Josh Doyle be too old for a rookie contract, think you have to be under 24.

Definitely should have played the last Shield game this year after his double tons in the last Second X1 game though

Shaun Marsh will play on for WA next season, it will be his 23rd first class season. He is still contacted for one more season and he looks set to remain as the stand in captain when brother Mitch is unavailable.

Peter Siddle signed a one year contract extension for Tasmania which will take him into his 16th first class season.

Tim Paine was not given a new contract by Tasmania.

Billy Stanlake has moved to Tasmania.

Victorian Wicket-keeper Seb Gotch has been forced to retire because of a chronic finger injury.

SA could do with Tim Paine......especially if Carey gets more games for Australia.
