Hasn't bowled yet

NSW 4/79 at lunch

Queensland v Victoria is the other Shield match on today.
Queensland 1/52 at lunch.

Interesting that all 4 sides have long tails naming/playing bowlers at number 7.

Weird that all 4 have done that.....

Is it a CA directive or just coincidence.....so odd all four teams are doing it??

Is it because of the quick turnaround in games to protect the bowlers.

Which hand does he ‘bat’ with?
A conundrum if I’ve ever seen one

Just coincidence having all 4 side doing it at the same time surely as some teams have played 5 bowlers having their keeper at 6 for awhile now. One main possibility of teams picking 5 bowlers would be to give them more of a chance taking 20 wickets?

Looking at the fixture there isn't a really short turnaround in games, the shortest turnaround in the remaining matches is 5 days.

Any reason Gurindher Sandhu is bowling offices for QLD in the shield.

I'm not sure if he's done it in first class/state cricket before but he has done during a couple of Australia A matches v India A in India. I Googled it to find the dates and it was in July/August 2015.

Victoria v Queensland ended in a draw while NSW beat Tasmania by 75 runs. Trent Copeland took 4/46 in Tasmania's second innings taking his 400th first class wicket in the process.

Doesn't explain why he was bowling offies but an article reporting on the last day's proceedings explains some of the tension out on the field.

Why does Pope go and play 2nd XI? Surely there's a kid out there that can bowl some spin, surely they're just smashing his confidence and self belief now.

Next game for Redbacks is next week v QLD at the Gabba. Here's the squad that's been named (via MyCricket):
NJ McAndrew
JS Buckingham
J Lehmann
+HJ Nielsen
NA McSweeney
N Winter
DM Grant
J Weatherald
B Doggett
D Drew
JM Carder
LA Scott
*HJ Hunt
LA Pope
It now seems very clear what the High Performance agenda is here. If you're an interstate recruit you will continue to be gifted opportunities!!! I see young T Kelly not even in the squad yet I looked up his stats and he has had scores of 98, 59, 211no and 99 since the BBL!! He'll probably get some bullshit feedback that he's not making enough runs or they'll use the excuse he missed out in the first innings in the 2nds this week.
No reward even for a bloke who's leading the Premier Cricket batting and made back to back tons in the 2nds this week.
5 players from SA (6 if you count Weatherald?) so clearly they don't rate local talent (or are actually too lazy and incompetent to put the time in to develop). How long did it take before they finally had to pick Drew!!!
Don't be surprised to eventually see some of the local young players hightail it out of the Redbacks and go elsewhere - why should they keep putting up with this crap when performance is clearly not being rewarded! Redbacks - probably the worst professional sporting organisation in Australia.
Anyhow it been bucketing down in QLD so it will be another Gabba greentop.

Hearing may be changes to this list. Think Doggett unavailable as was with Aussie squad and Winter hurt his foot in Second X1 match. Will play four pace guys and Scott as 5th bowler so Pope wont play. Buckingham to debut, and likely Spencer Johnson as well. No bowlers left as Worrall going to live in UK. Think Tom Kelly and Gibson still a chance as well. Why play Lehmann, thats bizarre!

(West Torrens season over if all five play )

That leaves the batting very thin if they go with the 4 quicks. Liam Scott, with a batting average of 19 and bowling average of 51 yet keeps getting gifted games!!! I hear he's one of Tim's favourites. Surely they could give either Gibson or Kelly a shot and McSweeney or Drew can bowl offies?

Agree MC, would mean Neilson batting six and he can’t make a run this year to save himself.

May as well have the batting match the bowling.
