There has been a bit of an irregular pattern to the T20I WC being played in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021 and then next in 2022. After the upcoming WC in Australia next year the tournament is scheduled to be played every two years until 2030.

The ODI WC Cup will continue it's 4 year pattern next in 2023 and is scheduled in 2027 and 2031 after that. The ODI Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played in 2025 and 2029.

The World Test Championship final is scheduled to be played next in 2023 and then 25, 27, 29 and 31 after that.

India and NZ play a 3 match T20 series before their test series starting November 18th (12am our time, tomorrow night) so it's very quick turnaround for NZ after the T20I WC.

Was the 2010 one a double dissolution world cup or something?

The scheduled ICC Champions Trophy was ment to be held in the West Indies in 2010 but was revised to a T20 format because the 2008 Champions Trophy in Pakistan was postponed due to security concerns and there was a need to correct the international tournament calendar.

Whilst it is overkill I would much prefer lots of world cups rather than those pissy 3-5 game ODI and T20 series against India etc that nobody could remember who won even last year.
