Head averages 18.71 against right arm spin (only worse against left arm spin averaging 16) so he was going to be an easy wicket for Mendis or Jayasuriya.

It doesn't matter if it's international or domestic level, teams will continue to bowl their off spinner to him as soon as possible. I have noticed in the BBL in the past teams have employed it and the commentators have noted it.
