Yeah agree.

The way he plays through the point to mid off region using his wrists to hit the gaps is extremely VVS like. I would almost go as far as saying though that he plays the shorter bowling better than VVS.

Will the Redback selectors pick him for shield cricket ???

SA DEBUT

The question now is
Will the Australian selectors pick him for either 20/20- ODI- Test cricket.

I'm predicting YES

Especially if he moves to QLD where the pitches would be much more favourable for him (a la Ryan Harris!!)

If the rumours are true he’d be mad not to go up there.
Why would you want to play for the redbacks.

You get to bat twice and only field once most games.

Would rather be sitting around getting paid the same amount over fielding

Why would you want to play for the redbacks.[/quote]Queensland have a very decent and settled pace attack, would he get into the team ahead of Neser and Steketee (the best opening pair in state cricket for awhile now) and Bartlett (24 and SA born) who has been a good foil for those two? They have Sandhu, Guthrie and Bazley as the back ups.

Guthrie a left armer who left WA but hasn't played much for Queensland in either format, even if Johnson is considered a better bowler than Guthrie surely wouldn't go unless he's guaranteed to be in Queenslands first eleven?

Agar, Doggett, McAndrew, Buckingham and Johnson is a very good pace group for SA (I'm not sure if I count Grant too?), who would be the three everyone would have at the moment?

Locky801 and myself over the years have been massive fans of Mitchell STARc
I reckon he is the greatest left hand white ball/limited overs bowler that has played for Australia
The champ is now 33 years old, so he cant last that much longer

QUESTION
Will Spencer Johnson take over and be nearly as good ?
I think he will play white ball cricket, but as good as STARc ? , very doubtful

One never knows we have been blessed with left arm bowlers since back in the Bruce Reid days, then of course Mitch Johnson and then Starc, reckon Starc can play two or 3 years more white ball cricket. Spencer Johnson is work in progress only time will tell how good he may become
