could be a 5 nil drubbing on the cards.

porky took 5 catches and scored 98 runs, they aint dropping him magilla
Dropped 4, missed a stumping and didn’t even go at one that he should have caught.
I’d open the bat with him and drop one of the other crabs and bring Foakes in

This was being discussed in a few other places about brining in Foakes and having Bairstow open.

However in saying that the Duckett and Crawley combo looks ok and Im not sure i would change that at the moment.

So much to play put because if they are going to produce these sorts of decisions then they'll need a spinner. So Wood for Ali may not be a straight forward swap.

If it's a raging seamer foe the next test then yeah no worries but you can't be teeing off on a raging seamer.

Lots to play out at the moment.

First played 2005 and still a bowler that is hard to combat, remarkable career

They'll keep him in though hoping he'll find his rythym in the second test.
Bazball v ozball hasn't worked out for them this test so it'll be interesting to see if there's any change to their second innings batting strategy.

They'll stick with it.

They've given is a cool, marketing name, they have to stick to brand now.

I don't mind Bazball and the attacking nature they now play.
If they didn't declare the game probably ends in a boring draw.

Stayed up until roughly 1:30am, went to bed in the spare room & watched it on my phone. Winning runs as I hopped in the shower for work.
Red Bull number 3 and a packet of snakes keeping me going. Long day ahead but sooooo worth it…

It a harsh position but the only way you judge a keeper is by their mistakes.

Every catch and stumping is expected to be taken (bottom edges over the stumps excepted)

It’s about the number of byes and missed chances (lack there of).

Ponting made a good point last night stating Anderson will be better for the run at Lords. He cited Cummins performance in the WTC compared to how he bowled in this test.

Australia batters were sitting on him and he arguably bowled the ball of the game to get Carey in the 1st innings

Test cricket at it's best

No road as such to bat on, something in the wicket for everyone

Overall only 2 batters really got in, Usi for us and Joe for England, plenty of others got starts but didn't go on.

The importance of the Carey knock in the 1st innings was of great importance

5 days of top notch cricket, going down to the wire late in the last session for the result

Now to catch up on some long lost sleep before the 2nd test

Also include these games as well
1960 Tied test v West Indies
1982/1983 With Thommo and Captain Grumpy
1986 Tied test v India

Weve seen so many near misses in our time Ambays- yes it gets the chimpanzee of our back
For such a great cricket team those losses have created a scar

This win was dejavu
At Headingly Lyon had a review burnt, then missed a run out chance to get Stokes out
Last night Stokes dropped Lyon , early in his innings
Revenge is sweet

I stayed up and watched every ball of this enthralling test
Amazing last day in the field, Stokes just about did everything I would not have done if I was captain
If he holds that catch- England almost certainly wins
In the end Stokes blokes played well-- I reckon a TIE would have been a fair result

Broad is a prick of a bloke to play against, he gives his certainty bends his back and keeps working.

Robinson has a massive gob on him. I don't think he bowled poorly overall, but it is clear fitness is an issue for him as its his first couple of spells where the damage is. After that he's a park medium pacer.

Imagine telling a bloke that spent 1.5 days slapping you around for 141 to **** off.

Anderson cooked ?
Ali injured ?
Stokes Injured ?
Root, needle stuck on Hey Jude ?

Who knows with Stokes Blokes and Razzabazzamatazz, would anyone have been surprised if Bairstow took the pads off and bowled ?

I would have gone Broad and Anderson with about 20 runs left
Having posted that Ollie and Stewie were the best England bowlers throughout this test

All eyes will be on the pitch for the second test.

Keeping in mind England were destroyed in Oz and didn't come close. They had their chances to win this test. In saying that it was our best performance in England in many years so you could make a case either way as to whether the pitch somewhat helped England or not.

Can they risk creating a green top which helps their batting but make Bazball even more riskier than it already is.

I'm not sure they are going to get the balance right between the pitches that help bazball vs pitches to beat Australia.
