Not a crack at you Booney but holy **** it gives me the shits when sports fixtures are published without the day of the week included.

Wasn't there some big announcement that Adelaide would get the "xmas test" for the next 7 years?

Seems like we don't have the last test before xmas.

True. When I fill in forms that require my date of birth I make sure to add the day of the week.

Going to be interesting in two and half years time -

2026-27

August: One Test and three T20s v Afghanistan (northern Australia) - yeah right based on the current view of CA

✈ September-October: Three Tests and three ODIs tour of South Africa

November-December: Three ODIs and five T20s v England

December-January: Three Tests v New Zealand - two cities out of Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth are going to be p!ssed off

✈ January-February: Five-Test Border-Gavaskar Series tour of India

March: Two Tests v Bangladesh - hmm when in March given when footy takes over Adelaide Oval and Perth stadium

I think the term 'Christmas Test' were the words used by the Premier about a permanent return to a December test match rather than having to be later in December and block any gap for another test elsewhere prior to Boxing Day. Nice to have it starting on the traditional Friday which is how all test matches except Boxing Day should be.

A standalone celebratory match in Melbourne to commemorate Test cricket's 150th anniversary in 2027 is a feature of an extended men's hosting rights schedule released today by Cricket Australia.

While details are yet to be finalised for the Australia-England fixture that honours the inaugural Test played at the MCG from March 15-19 in 1877, it is expected to rival the memorable Centenary Test staged 100 years later at the same venue.

Among other details of venue allocations for men's Test matches which, in some cases, are finalised for the next seven summers are:

Marquee matches at the MCG (Boxing Day Test) and SCG (New Year's Test) are locked in until 2030-31, maintaining traditions at those venues stretching back to 1981-82 and 1989-90 respectively.

Adelaide Oval will host the December 'Christmas Test' in either day-night or day format for the next seven summers, with the next men's Ashes contest in 2025-26 expected to be played as a red-ball match.

Perth's West Test will kick off the men's Test season for the next three years meaning the 2025-26 Ashes campaign begins at a venue other than the Gabba for the first time in more than four decades, and will be the first Ashes Test at the 60,000-seat stadium.

In addition to the scheduled Test against India this summer, Brisbane has been guaranteed a pre-Christmas Test next summer that will be a day-night Ashes Test, expected to immediately follow the series opener in Perth, amid planning for the city's 2032 Olympic Games.

The venue schedule, finalised by CA in conjunction with state and territory governments to provide greater clarity and surety for the game's fans, also guarantees one men's white-ball international fixture at the Gabba and Perth Stadium for the next two and three summers respectively.

And in addition to having a men's and women's limited-overs international locked in every year until 2030-31, Adelaide Oval will continue to host the hugely successful New Year's Eve BBL match over the same period.

Cricket Australia announced it will continue to work closely with governments in Tasmania, Northern Territory and ACT on exploring opportunities to host international matches over the next seven years. The proposed Macquarie Point stadium new-build in Tasmania is not expected to come online until at least 2029.

The Gabba is on notice as a future test venue and legend Allan Border has appeared on the socials speaking up for Test Cricket in his adopted state. Not sure if you've seen the clip but AB has seen better days, sad to see. Qld fans are pretty picky with tests and it's now coming back to bite us on the arse. The Gabba is still a great venue (despite what AB says in his video appearance) in comparison to overseas venues, but it's lagging behind the other major venues at the moment. We need to sort our shit with the Olympics just around the corner.

It’s been a political clusterf@&k.

$3b on a new stadium with 50-60k capacity

Versus

$1.6b on a temporary stadium in the burbs that has no lasting benefit as the extra seating will be pulled down after the games

$500m on the Gabba with no increased capacity

$500m on suncorp stadium which fails to help afl & cricket at all.

I can’t believe it’s still up for discussion

Is that QSAC? Great facility, but you shouldn't be holding the Olympics out in the 'burbs

That’s the one. No issues with the facility itself although lack of train makes transport unviable. I just don’t understand spending $1.6b on something that provides no lasting infrastructure nor addresses the city’s ongoing stadium needs.

Chasing Scotlands 9/154 (20) Australia have posted a WORLD RECORD Power Play score of 1/113 off 6 overs and that after losing JFM 3rd ball for a duck.
Currently Aust 3/123 (7) Head out for 80 (25)

Inglis 1st ball he faced he pulled away very late to spinner Watt and was bowled. Umpire called Dead Ball which was an absolute JOKE

Interesting that there's NO 3rd umpire for this match :?

Interesting one as the bowler bowled the delivery from next to the umpire, he theoretically wasn't entering his delivery stride, pretty crappy tactic really, just bowl the ball son.

I have no issue with a long ball when the intent is to deceive the batsman based on the alternative flight and timing.

I agree if the intent is to rush the batsman before he is ready then it becomes a bit more interesting and more likely to be a dead ball.

That was out.. Inglis definitely looked ready and looked up - just because he's been put off by where he's bowled from is no excuse.
