According to Test Cricket Lists (The 1998 edition), up to August 1998 only 5 times has 7 or more been scored off the one ball without any penalties or no balls etc. on that delivery.

They are:

8 runs - E.H Hendren; Eng vs Aust; Brisbane; 1928-29; 4 run, 4 boundary overthrows
8 runs - John Wright; N.Z vs Aust; Melbourne; 1980-81; 4 run, 4 boundary overthrows
7 runs - A Sandham; Eng vs W.I; Kingston; 1929-30; 3 run; 4 boundary overthrows
7 runs - Alan Knott; Eng vs W.I; Leeds; 1976; 1 run; 2 overthrows; 4 boundary overthrows
7 runs - Majid Khan; Pak vs Aus; Melbourne; 1981-82; 4 run; 3 overthrows

Which makes todays occurance only the 6th recorded case of 7 runs or more off one delivery.

I was there to see it! Flintoff bowled 5 dot balls from memory then a 7! You should have heard the cheers Pietersen got everytime he fielded after that - he had to beg Freddy to be brought close in!

Don't thank me, thank Graham Dawson and Charlie Wats' Test Cricket Lists!

About time they brought out an update, there have been so many Test matches in 8 years.
