Barmy Army Trumpet Reinstated! What The... ?

Channel 7 News reported tonight that Billy Cooper WILL be allowed to bring his trumpet into the 3rd Test at the WACA AND play it!

I can't believe this - the guy gets evicted on day 1 at the Gabba and is refused permission to play at Adelaide Oval. Everyone says - Why cant he play? Feeble answers are given.

Suddenly, the trumpet is back in. :o

Is it any coincidence that the Aussies are now two-nil up in the series with 3 to play?

I must say the Barmy Army deserve full credit for their support of the Poms at Adelaide Oval right to the last ball, but one cant help wonder if the presence of the trumpet may have meant more to them and their team.

Cricket Australia have really stuffed up this issue.

I think we take life a bit to seriously

let him play

go to india or the west indies, these guys bang drums and play instruments all day

these days your not even allowed to play volley ball with a beach ball on the hill

if I have to listen to non musical talent play in the Mall, I may as well listen to them at the cricket

This explains why the Barmy Army trumpet hasn't appeared so far this season but will be seen at the WACA. Doesn't give the actual reason why the are banned at the 'Gabba, Adelaide Oval and the MCG though.

The guy can actually play, it's not like someone is just using the instrument for the purpose of noise polution

go to the soccer and they blow those air horns all game, the purpose of these horns are to create noise

i dont care either way but I'm sure many supporters would probably get the sh*ts with someone blowing a trumpet for five days.......

I wouldnt think the english cricket side would need someone to blow a trumpet, they have been blowing their own for the last 18 months....expect 30,000 trumpets at the waca then, cant have a rule for some but not for others...

honestly this guy should stick that trumpet where the sun dont shine........I know if i would have parted my hard earned dollars and have that t*sser sat near me blowing that bl***dy trumpet all day it would probably want it banned..........blokes like that might like to consider other people not everyone want to be subjected to the distraction of trumpet playing....

Seriously - are you going to a game of cricket or Lawn Bowls?? Cricket is about having a few drinks, watching the game and making noise to support your team... If you can't go there and listen to some bloke with a trumpet then you shouldn't be paying your money to go to the Cricket, go across the road to the tennis or rowing....

Would suggest also that you don't go to footy if noise is considered a "distraction"

Oh no!! It's pooower01!

A bit precious Power01.

It makes me laugh when people complain about the possibility of this guy blowing a trumpet in their ear if they happen to sit next to him, as he'll be sitting in the middle of the Barmy Army when he toots his trumpet. He won't be sitting next to you me, or any Bronzed Bonzer Ocker Aussie - unless you're stupid enough to walk into the middle of the mosh of Poms.

And as the Barmy Army's only going to get bigger over the next three tests, due to the remainder of the package tours flying in, if he's in the middle of it all - he's going to be a long way from any Aussie.

Let the man play. It adds colour and vibrancy to the game.

interesting post coz he wasnt allowed to blow his trumpet in the ashes series in the uk last year....in front of thousands of poms so why should he be allowed here....................so maybe u should sit next to or near him and see how u feel after 5-6 hours of play................u might just be saying what I am SHUT UP!!!!
