Cameron White and Brett Haddin must go to the West Indies for the 2007 world cup.
White 322 runs at 64 is burning in the Ford cup especially since his elevation to number 4
Last 3 innings
143 in a district cricket 20/20 game[a record i think]
77[98] v Qld in the f/cup against a very strong QLD attack [Vic made 217]
126 not out [100] vrs NSW in ford/cup, absolutely awesome.[5 sixes]
At 23 he is one of the most exciting players in our very strong domestic competition.
He has taken wickets in the f/cup, but underbowls himself.
His captaincy with a depleted attack is first class.
His fielding at short mid wicket is outstanding
He is an outstanding one day cricketer.
His pura cup form needs improving to take the next step.
Brett Haddin must go as a batsman, forget the fact he is a keeper
REB has been telling us he is a better o/d batsman than Michael Clark[a big big wrap]
327 runs in the f/cup at a strike rate of close to 110 is phenominal.
Today he hit 47 not out[32] his timing is exquisite and one of the sweetest hitters in the world.
His outstanding 40 odd not out v SA at Adelaide oval was asupreme effort

SOOTERS you are a very knowledgeable intelligent person.
I noticed you have CLARK as an opener as well.

Don't like the idea of Symonds and Watson in the same team, both too hit and miss. Clarke has to open. Birt has to at least be a part of the squad, and I'd have him in the team. White should get a go, but he'd be fourth in line to bowl spin, behind Hogg, Clarke, and Symonds. Tait, Hadden, Watson, Cullen, and Johnson to also go over.
In the end, its only one day cricket.

Haddin goes in before Birt every time. I rate Birt but Haddin is more experienced and can also keep if required. White goes ahead of Hogg who has been a good servant. REB's side is same as mals except Haddin and White go and Hogg stays home.

PAFC. Watson and Symonds 'hit and miss' in the same side?? Didn't you watch the Champions Trophy recently (news flash: We won). Don't rate Clark as a one day bowler either.

Well based on performances in South Africa in April, MALyasia in in September and the CT in October their are 11 laydown mesaries for the World Cup, baring injury:
Gilchrist, Watson, Ponting, Symonds, Clarke, Hussey, Hogg, Lee, Bracken, Johnson and McGrath, Martyn was the other certainty. Of the 14 that went to the CT the 2 in doubt for the WC are Katich and Cullen given that Cullen only played one game (I think), and Katich was dropped for the last 3-4 games it is fair to say that they are probably longshots.... now, Katich might get a gig becasue of his experience but that is 50:50 at best
Who will be the last 3, it will probably come out of Clark, Cosgrove, Haddin, Voges Hopes and White, as they are the players that have been in and out of the team over the past 12 months. My tip is that Voges Cosgrove and Hopes at the minute will have no hope

Another intellectually intelligent team presented.

My team:
Gilchrist - still dominant at the top
Jaques - strong, powerful and made to open one dayers
Ponting - enough said
Clarke - let him craft an innings with overs to spare
Hussey - like him bringing home the game but give him overs
Symonds - big hitting and experience
Watson - gives versatility to the team
Hogg - a proven professional
Lee - handy lower order hitter and strike bowler
Johnson - shown plenty to suggest he'll be good enough next year
McGrath - he's still got it
Bracken - exceptional champions trophy has him ahead of Tait
White - like Watson he adds versatility and can be a slow option if Hogg fails
Cosgrove - could play anywhere in the batting order, give him the experience
Of course selections are likely to change depending on who performs in the VB series.

Good squad, and Cosgrove could still make through sheer 'weight' of runs

Good squad, and Cosgrove could still make through sheer 'weight' of runs

Cosgrove would need to avearge more runs than he is carrying kilos to ever play for Australia. Even the Don couldn't manage that. Lose 20kg's and he will be a star. Normally sportsmen and women are judged harshly and by most people's standards aren't even close to being overweight but in Cossie's case he is overweight by anyone's standards. I really hope he can get himself right because he has so much talent.

Give it a fancy name and watch the money roll in.
Hope we play well against Bermuda. Great match that one. Maybe then we'll play Canada. Or Kenya. Or even Netherlands. What a quality tournament this is. At least the Champions Trophy is just for the Test playing nations.

And how is the sport supposed to grow if we play the same seven nations all the time? If that sort of blinkered thinking went on within the walls at Alberton there would be no such thing as Port Power. Sri Lanka was Bermuda in 1975, yet went on to win the world cup in 1996.

PAFC1870 - try talking about something you know about. You Bagged Kenya for being in the World Cup...
Check out 2003 in South Africa, Kenya played in the Semi Finals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FFS...
Correct weight REB, Sri Lanka used to be a basket case in cricket
