Of course he did .. why bat in the best conditions? Twighlight batting is a far better option

Vics 6/202 ... too many for SA I would think. Cosgrove 0/39 from 2 overs :)

VI 7/203
BLIZZARD 89[38] as mentioned in earlier posts he can hit a long long ball.

SKEWES me dropped 3 catches

When interviewed in the crowd, Klinger[12 th man !] was laughing as was
White and Quinney on TV......and then Cosgrove came on to bowl !!

We have to open with Manou/Cosi/Boof
Victoria look winners

PS ECKY did you see Putlands catch ,remind you of a catch taken this year in your team

Cosy's had a big night. 0/39 of 2 overs and a 1st ball duck. :)

1/52 from 8 overs. Redbacks only need about 13 an over to win. Easy if you say it quickly.

SA 8/169 [20]
FERGUSON opened end of game
Boof batted too low as usual
SKEWES 78[55]partially redeemed his 3 dropped catches
He should play in the 50 over games with Borgas injured.
4 wickets in 4 balls in the 18th over was comical with the 2 run outs

Enjoyed watching this game.

Mal + ADELAIDE HAWK man of the match for Victoria was Cosgrove
2 overs 0/39
a chanceless golden duck :!:

QL 9/202
PERRON 82[37]
DIGHTON 3 OVERS 6/25 unbelievable figures for a non bowler
TA 163
RIMMINGTON 4 OVERS 5/27 unbelievable for him as well

WA 4/194
RONCHI 29[11]
VOGES 74 [45]
were 1/52 after 3.3 overs

NS 8/168 lose by 26 runs
JAQUES 69[38] whoosh
HOGG 4 OVERS 3/19

i think the scoreboard was kind on the redbacks, they were never in the game. Mind you when you field a second 11 side with only 4 bowlers (wtf?). Id think you would want 6 bowlers who can be relied on to bowl 4 overs in a 20 20 game, as any bowler can have a shocker and have to be taken off. Playing with just 4 bowlers was suicidal when putland and kelly both got hammered.

anyone else think the 'dropped' catch with 3 fielding standing perfectly around the ball would be a perfect picture tribute to the season so far.

Cricket is the game of bat vs. ball. Does this happen in 20/20?

Exhibit A

RJ Harris 4 0 27 2 6.75
GD Putland 3 0 37 2 12.33 (2w)
TP Kelly 2 0 24 0 12.00 (1w)
DJ Cullen 4 0 33 1 8.25 (1w)
MJ Cosgrove 2 0 39 0 19.50
DS Lehmann 3 0 19 1 6.33
NT Adcock 2 0 24 1 12.00

You might as well pick eleven batsmen and just replace the bowlers with bowling machines. I believe this format of the game is a bit of a misnomer....there is little vision at all been displayed here by Cricket Australia, just a cynical attempt to cash in. 20/20 'Cricket' was of course introduced in England because the game was a bloody mess over there, how will crucifying bowlers on our already road like decks produce the next Warne or McGrath?? Real cricket fans are better off going elsewhere. I would have stayed at the tennis than watch a glorified centre wicket practice.

REB

REB great points[again] about 11 batsman in 20/20 cricket
I would select
2 opening bowlers...for the 6 over restriction
9 batsman.....9 blokes who can hit sixes consistently
If more than 2 bowlers, the bowlers after that must be able to hit sixes as well

Yesterday Rimmington 5 wickets Dighton 6 wickets proves speciallist proven bowlers
may not neccessarily be the answer

Using my formula that means SA will be useless at this form as we have no six hitters.

VI beat SA because of cyclone BLIZZARD who hit about 9 zacs
Our best contributor was SKEWES who I think hit 1 zac

When you look at the scores of teams that get 200+ someone hits lots of sixes
and scores about 200% strike rate
BLIZZARD 89 of 38 balls tells the story

SA needs to open with MANOU + BORGAS when fit
YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TOP 3 BATSMEN being 6 hitters.

And Ferguson opens the batting last night before D Harris why ??????????????????
