Another win to the aussies and the game hasn't started yet.
Tait to play his first ODI for Aussies. A bit over due in my books.

At least Tait's debut will add a bit of excitement to this game. I wouldn't be surprised if it's similar to the Australia Day game.

I hope for the crowd's sake that Australia bat first.

Did we all see Richard Eales report in the pres today
SA V EG o/d fictitous game and whp would win.
Earle is a very very good reporter BUT he said
only Flintoff, Strauss and possibly Bell would make the SA team.[no PANESAR...hmn]
Big statement, he also said SA would win in a romp. :!: :!: :!:

MALS COMBINED X1
-----------------------

ELLIOTT
JOYCE
BELL
LEHMANN
COSGROVE
FLINTOFF
COLLINGWOOD
NIXON
GILLESPIE
TAIT
PANESAR
12th man MARK HUGH JACKMAN CLEARY

I have 6 poms in the team
Had PLONKERSEN,STRESSCOTHIK,VAUGHAN + ANDERSON been fit there
would have been more Poms in my team.

TODAYS GAME AU V EG
---------------------------
Ponting playing, Hodge in ?
Lets hope AU bats first for the food vendors, bar takings .......
My tip I will again stick my head out and select AU to win
Lets hope TAIT tears them apart.
Will LOYE get caught in the keeper slips region for the 5th time in 5 games ?
Can STRAUSS make a 50 vrs AU this season ?
Will AU try and get to 400 runs if batting first.[absurd]
Will AH call 50 over games a joke AGAIN.

I'd like to see Loye try to sweep Tait. Could get messy. My interest in this game lies solely with watching Tait bowl. Thank god England will be going home after this match. I'm not sure the Poms will recover too easily. Has this tour set them back 15 years?

Mal Loye has been caught in basically the same way for each of his four innings so far! Although his innings have been short, they were somewhat entertaining. More so than his opening parnter Strauss anyway...

v Australia 36 (36) c Hayden b Bracken (five 4's & one 6)
v New Zealand 8 (14) c Fleming b Franklin (one 4)
v Australia 9 (17) c Gilchrist b Lee (one 6 - a huge one BTW!!)
v New Zealand 15 (17) c Fleming b Franklin (two 4's & one 6)

Mal Earle I presume your name must be  . Only a relation would rate his style of journalism. Tabloid crap in my opinion :  including the SA v Eng article, comparing averages...cmon!!. Reading an article the other day talking about AUS v ENG and it was all... "and the bashful Ponting took to the hapless Lewis while the lame Michael vaughn could only sit an watch".. "the plucky Mal Loye did this and the zippy mitchell johnson did that".. Absolute Dribble. the best cricket writer in the country IMHO is Roebuck (The age i think). just my opinion of course :!: :!:

If EARLE an his other jounos at the Advertiser could actually write
form thier heart instead of thier walletts......
That SA V EG article ...he was let of the leash for that, but it was light hearted stuff.

They simply are not allowed to print what they believe at times.
Unlike us on a site with fictitious web names who can print as we like.

EARLE is a good journo.

$7 for a roughie in a two horse race, good enough odds for FIGmal to take? Methinks not...

True call Mal, Anonymity helps :!: .
il have to take your word for the good journo part. :?
Anyone who says (even in a light hearted piece) that "Tremlett, Plunkett and Lewis would rank as grade players" lacks cred IMHO. :!:
plunkett took 29 grade wkts @ 10.76 in half a seson of grade cricket- , tremlett has 214 county wkts @26 and lewis 574@ 26 as well. as comparison Rofe who is a solid state cricketer took 12 wkts @ 42 on the county scene, cullen averaged over 40, gillespie over 30 last year and the list goes on. It's easy to knock these pommy bowlers but to say they are only grade cricketers is rubbish journalism, and if he only is thinking of his wallet, i hear new idea pay alright

Surely the crowd would be asking for their money back, no need to turn the lights on, England won the toss and are batting first! :x

England off to a good start

0/30 (7.2)

Joyce 9*
Loye 16*

Mal Loye has smacked his customary six. I can smell a wicket - Loye caught behind going after a wide one.

Some very very brisk bowling from Tait. Hopefully he gets a few in the right spots.

pity he can't catch.........bit of nerves perhaps?

Loye tried that sweep shot one too many times. Might think twice about ever trying to sweep McGrath again, who struck him in the head, then had him caught out next ball playing a hook shot.

Eng 1/59

Joyce 21*
Bell 1*
